Katsolo's Journal, 13 July 2021

Fluctuations, I didn't really eat that much yesterday, but I ate late. Medium walk last night except that I 1) forgot to turn on the watch for about 5 blocks, 2) stopped and let kids pet the dogs, 3) stopped and ran my mouth with friend going to Maui today, and 4) stopped and filmed four coyotes in the canyon for a few minutes. So while it was good to get out, exercise wise, it was not my best performance.

Puppy class tonight, plan is to squeeze two ten minute spin sessions in during the day so I don't have to do them in the full sun this afternoon.

Two coyotes of the four in the local pack. Don't pet. Not sure how all four are surviving in the rather small canyon, but they seem to be doing fine so far. I'd miss all these things if I never left the house.

Busy day, enjoy it.

East coast coyotes are much blonder. I encountered one while walking my dogs at dawn in a State Park on Cape Cod. We've got them locally, too. It makes it hard to keep chickens. (a dachshund got snatched a couple of years ago in my neighborhood!)

we have coyotes in our yard all the time. I am in southern CT. I have an old dachshund that used to track him. Now that a mountain lion was in our yard the other day, we keep the dog close to us. btw...thank you for sharing these pics with us!

we won't talk about the circle of life here. just keep your pets inside. I've had my run ins, but they are scared of humans if you make a lot of noise. we also have grey foxes which are tiny and delicate and very, very shy. I've seen them, but never been able to take a picture quickly enough. I saw a coyote once in Florida, it seemed to have longer legs than these guys and moved without a sound.

How cool! I stopped and looked at a carpenter ant carrying a small dead grasshopper that was at least 10x his size. And I stopped to try to see what was making a crazy sound in a bush and threw a rock at it. And that was about it. Oh- and a smashed dead toad about 1/2 dollar size. Didn't look too long at that. Your adventure seems way more fun!

Woke up to coyotes at 2am this morning. Atill trying to get back to sleep. They cornered something so we'll count the cats in the morning. Our cats just won't stay inside.
