I have added frozen vegetables to my no-carb version of the Atkins Diet. This change allows me a broader choice of foods and more fiber and vitamins. I was having blood shot eyes and I was worried about vitamin deficiencies I couldn't seem correct by taking vitamins.

You should be able to get enough vitamins on a very low carb diet as most meat products to provide them. But veggies is not a bad idea at all as long as you stay away from the bad ones like corn. What is your rate of loss on your plan?

Meat only gives you certain vitamins. When you cut out any food group for a long period of time, you run the risk of being deficient in certain vitamins. Atkins is low carb not "no carb". So the vegetables are an important part of the diet. It also gives you enough fiber, because too much protein can cause many problems. So adding veggies is a good idea. Good luck!

Hello sigmablue and Suzi161, and thank you for your comments! I think you both offer great ideas. Leaving out carbs was a result of laziness -- I didn't want to count carbs and keep track of them, so I left them out! One of the problems I have run into when using Atkins in the past is tiring of my food choices. I think "sustainability" is important for us all, so I hope adding vegetables will improve my chances of success. Good luck to you!
