fxbg71's Journal, 09 January 2009

I'm really struggling at about 10:00pm each night. I get huge cravings for bad food. If I can force myself to either go to sleep or just not eat anything I'm usually OK by 11:00pm. Any suggestions for a healthy snack that will fix this craving and not blow my diet?

Hi there... saw your journal posted - might sound weird but when i get the munchies at night I'll have something like pickles and banana peppers or cherry tomatoes and cucumber with some salt. Usually does the trick for me!

I just sent you a buddy request. I see that you are a member of the "Yellow Paratrooper" squad in the bootcamp challenge. So am I! I enjoy learning from the male point of view regarding weight loss. My husband is a physical education-health education teacher. He is sort of a fitness buff and I have a hard time keeping up with him. We may be able to encourage each other during boot camp and beyond! Good luck!

First - thanks for agreeing to be my bud! Also - these night time cravings used to bug me too. If I got too desparate, I'd eat a slice of cheese or a spoon of peanut butter for protein along with some raisins to beat the sweets! Usually I counted out fourteen raisins! 14 was my husband's college baseball number. Weird huh! At other times I drank hot tea. Drinking something warm makes your stomach "think" you are full. I no longer get cravings at night.

Hi Fxbg71 - whenever I get cravings I will drink a big glass of water. That usually gives me a full feeling and then I can walk away from whatever I was craving. Good Luck!

I drink a big cup of sugar-free hot chocolate with a load of sugar-free Cool Whip or canned sugar-free whipped cream. It's sweet, it's creamy, and it's relaxing before bed. I go brush my teeth or Listerine pretty quick after I finish it because it makes anything you stick in your mouth after that taste like crap. It really makes you not want to stick anything in your mouth anyway. I make my own hot chocolate mix and keep it it a big Tupperware bowl (sealed) on the shelf. If you want the recipe, message me and I'll send it to you. Hope this helps! Great progress, by the way!
