katekat's Journal, 08 October 2010

Well, it certainly feels good to be able to be back on here!

I have been taking care of my uncle who became suddenly ill for the last couple of weeks. It is always hard to stick to a special eating style when you are at someone elses' house and in the hospital it was nearly impossible, but I did my best and tried to take walks as much as possible. Another family member has taken over for this month. I may have to do it again in a couple of months depending on how things go. I am hopeful that he will recover as he is still young, only 63, but a life of hard living can take its toll on your body.

All that to say, I consider the six pound loss a victory! And nursing my uncle to be a reminder that being healthy is so important.
292.0 lb Lost so far: 30.0 lb.    Still to go: 92.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I am so sorry about your uncle, but it is wonderful that you are helping to care for him. I also understand what you mean about nursing your uncle being a reminder. I have the same reminder with my mom. Congrats on the loss. You are right, it is so hard to eat right at the hospital and other people's homes, but it appears to me that you did just fine!!

Six pounds in 4 weeks is a pretty darn good loss in my book under ANY circumstances! Your uncle is a lucky guy to have you and other family members to help him thru this. Hope he gets better soon. Enjoy being back in your own home and your own bed!!
