I'm brand new - this is my first entry, and I officially begin dieting tomorrow. I'm nervous and hopeful, but I need to take control and get my body back. I'm starting at 190 (I think. I'll be buying a decent scale this evening).

My biggest issues are separating food for myself and finding the time and energy to exercise. I have 6 kids, 4 and under, in the house to feed each day and usually eat whatever I make for them. By the time the babysitting kids leave, I'm exhausted and crave sugar and caffeine, not exercise! I need to turn this all around.

Wish me luck!
190.0 lb Lost so far: 27.0 lb.    Still to go: 30.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Good luck - I thought I had it rough but I can certainly see how you are drained by the end of the workday. Just remember we are here for you.

Hey! I'm with you on the cooking for kids and eating what they eat thing! I also babysit kids in my home, and this winter was hard to get them the exercise they needed, so I bought Tae Bo tapes! The kids love doing Tae bo (as best they can!) along with me! WE all go put on some workout suits-ballet, gym shorts etc... and get to work! With your little ones, you might find the Elmocize tapes good for them. Just getting your body moving is better then doing nothing at all! Put in a music tape and do the hockey pokey! As far as cooking, I changed my veggie dishes to diet friendly ones, so I could eat with the kids. i put spray butter on the table if they wanted it, but I didn't use any. Try making your things ahead of time, like salads, so all you have to do is pop it out of the fridge during lunch time. Hope this helps! LeAnn

Your cravings are perfectly understandable. that's what's so terrific about the South Beach diet phase 1 which gets those cravings under control. I bet before too long you'll have discovered a bunch of good-for-you things that'll provide a similar kind of comfort once the kids leave. Check the recipes here for some fantastic SB friendly treats that you can look forward to during your much deserved down time. And the exercise suggestions by LeAnn are spot on!
