Walked 4.2 miles yesterday (Monday) and should get in 4.5 miles today.

Yesterday, I did my first splitting of the distance, going 3.2 in the AM and then a quick mile just before dinner. Today, I anticipate the same, having gone 3.5 this morning (2.7 with doggies)....should get that extra mile in later today.

If everything falls into place, I'll be at 21.4 miles cumulative for the week, with 1 day left to get to the 25-mile mark. This challenge is really working my legs (duh!), but more than I thought it would. Yesterday's "regular" 3+ miles felt easy as could be, after having Sunday off. But even just that extra mile last night and then the mileage today....well, I'm really feeling it. By the end of this challenge, I'll either be in better shape or I'll be an invalid! LOL!!!

For this challenge, I'm proving the Taubes' contention that exercise makes one HUNGRY!! 3.1 miles doesn't do that to me but, boy, can I ever tell with this higher mileage!

Yesterday was a busy day with me heading off to the thrift store to help out again. I groomed both dogs when I got home, as they were overdue and I wanted to get that done before dosing with Frontline.

I've got routine contractors for various things coming over today and tomorrow. Nothing special for me to do with them, but I always feel like they're intruders. Even though most work is outside, I feel like I want to clean up the yard from the dogs and also have the fence gates open, so everything is available to them. I know others don't do those kind of things, but I try to think what I'd appreciate if I were in their lines of work.

The weather's just beautiful....sunny, low humidity, and not even 70 degrees for all of my walking this AM....so I may put the oven on self-clean later today and open up the windows, as that's one of those tasks that needs to get done too (like the dog grooming yesterday).

Marathon Sandy! - You must be feeling great! And shaping up as well? I will speak for the contractors - yes, they appreciate those special considerations. Plus, anything to get the work done faster will get them off your property sooner.

Not really feeling all that wonderful with this extra mileage, Buffy, but at least I'm surviving. I know I'll feel wonderful having accomplished this challenge when I get through it however, so that's what's keeping me going. Thanks for giving me some good feelings about the prep work I do for contractors...they never say anything, so I'm not sure if they even notice or if it makes any difference to them. It makes a difference to me, so I keep doing it. Have a great day!

Yes, Lisa, I'm hungry! Compared to those who weigh what I used to weigh (or more) who are eating less than 900 calories, I feel I'm eating HUGE amounts! LOL! If I were able to eat about 1700 calories per day, I'd be one happy camper!!! I may have to go back and recheck the Phinney & Volek book where they show the typical energy expenditure and requirements for women. Congrat's again on your weight loss....you are SO-O-O close to goal!
