I read in a book that I am supposed to weigh 110 pounds only! I am very upset about that because I know that that is way too low for me to be comfortable at.
I could never maintain that weight.
I know that my comfort weight is somewhere between 145-148 pounds and so I have aimed for 148 as my goal.
However, now that I see the new weight that I am at, I was rather surprized. I shrunk over the last few years because I USED to be 5ft 5"....
I guess we really DO shrink when we get older LOL!
168.6 lb Lost so far: 15.4 lb.    Still to go: 23.6 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
gaining 1.9 lb a week

5 ft 5 and 110 lbs? That doesn't sound right to me either!

I am not 5 ft 5", I am 5 ft 3", and it says that I should be 110 pounds at that weight.

That sounds soooo low! I'd check another resource.

You can't use a book to tell you what your ideal weight should be. There are charts which have weight ranges for height, age, and body type. They are much better. Ideal weight is different for everyone. Pick one that put's you in a healthy weight range for you, and makes you feel good. My sister is 5'7" and weighs 115 pounds (she has a small frame). I am the same height and my goal is 135 pounds. I have a different frame then her. Good luck!

Don't let that get you down. If we all looked at those charts, we'd all be depressed! In high school I got down to 113 for 5'4" and was borderline anorexic to get there. I barely ate anything. That wasn't healthy at all! I think that is a ridiculously low number...I think aiming for 130's or 140's is more realistic.

Im 5ft 2.5". I WAS 110 and was basically considered anorexic. All the nasty things that happen to anorexics happened to me (even though I was NOT) I suffered from Anemia, Ammenoreah (sp?) (the loss of your period) and did not look good or healthy!! Just boney (I called myself skeletor) The normal weight range for our height is anywhere from 110-122 for a small frame and 115-135 for a medium to large frame. Hope that helps a little :)

The scale never lies but most of the time it isn't answering the question you are asking. Everyone has a different build that will greatly impact their weight to height ratio. Most body builders are obese by those standards because they weigh so much compared to their height. Ignore those silly numbers! Look in the mirror an decide if you are happy with what you see. If there is more of you than you want then lose a bit more, if there isn't, don't. I would caution you from saying at the outset that 110 is too small, although it may be. Right now it is just a number that doesn't mean anything, so to say it is too something is to give it value that it just doesn't have. Lose what weight you want by what you see, not by the scale and at the end of it all if you are 150 that's great or if you are 110 that's great too.

I am 5'3.5 " & small framed, my goal is 115. By the charts, that is what I see is lowest for my height & frame. Typically it is 100lbs for 5', then add 5 lbs for every inch, that is what I thought anyway. Hope that helps, but you must do what is right for YOU. Not a stinkin' chart!! Hugs!!
