Some stuff on metabolism and weight loss I found interesting. As is almost always the case, it's variable. I am sharing because I found it encouraging that The Biggest Loser contestants seem to be on the extreme end of caloric efficiency and not the norm for people who have lost a lot of weight.

I have read that most have regained their weight.

Yes, most of them did Erquiaga and Baskington. Some of the weight gain is attributed to their increased caloric efficiency. When I read about them, it made me worry. They appear to be on the extreme end of that problem though. These articles contrast other examples of large amounts of weight being lost without such dire consequences. Gastric bypass patients, for example, seem to show some slowing down of calorie burning but a recovery after a year or so. Some of Biggest Loser contestants were still slowed years and years after their appearance on the show. The articles also mention other examples where weight was lost without any increase in caloric efficiency. I found that hopeful.

And this is why small changes that will last a lifetime are the better option

I messed up and did super low calorie before I woke up and realized what I was doing to myself. I tried IF fasting and after a couple days I lost my appetite and just kept exercising like crazy and only eating 800 to 900 calories. I think this is one of the things to set off my allergies, I still have to force myself to eat sometimes. but I am eating my maintenance level and as long as my macro's are in balance for me I am staying steady. heck some times I go over and still do fine. I had a set back when I experimented with lower fat, but 4 days later things are back. I have like a pound to go and I really don't care if I ever get there. now it is resistance training with modest amount of cardio. no more burning myself out. it is burn fat with building muscle
