wholefoodnut's Journal, 26 March 2015

Day 2 of vacation. My body is still in recoup mode as I was exhausted by 5:00 yesterday and was in bed by 7:30, slept until 6:30. Figure sleep is good for this body at the moment. Exercise again will be working on the kitchen. Sunny morning high temp only around 50.

Wallpaper glue is finally off! Bigger job than I expected. YIPEE! I still have around the frig to do but it needs to be moved.

My day: This morning is haul all the contents of the frig to the basement one I re-started a couple days ago. Get rid of the wallpaper behind and next to the frig. Empty out the kitchen the best I can, pantry has to be completely empty as it's getting new shelves, partially take down the light fixtures. Rewash the walls and woodwork to get the last of the residue off. Then I can start painting!!!! So excited.

This is actually part of my plan for a healthier, happier me. Part of feeling good about me is to get my house re-do completed, organized, and easier to take care of so I can do more things. Having my kitchen more workable of course will be a big help.

It's not all about weight loss, much is about feeling good about one's life. One of the revelations of my journey.

You're going to do all of that in one day? What's your secret?

Frig is ready and cold. Boxes for kitchen stuff are in the garage. The frig was cleaned out Monday so it's not a disaster LOL!! Pantry was cleaned out not long ago due to the dang mice. We will see how far I get. Believe me my plans are often more than I can get done it a day LOL. I do need to get my butt moving though. Kathy, I'll give you an update on how much I accomplished later. Smiles.....

Congrats! That wicked wall paper is conquered! Glad you were able to get the rest you needed last night. Good luck with your efforts to organize and simplify your life - I am on that journey too (which interestingly started with the kitchen redo!)

Wow! Great job. You are right - it is not just about the scale. All the little NSV's add up and make for a healthier, happier you.

Jenn, I'm still waiting to see pictures of your kitchen!! I'm planning on attempting to post the original photos when I bought my house compared to my partial re-do. It will still have more to go, as the stove and frig will eventually be stainless, the countertops some sort of stone, and the blah floor replaced. The budget limits doing it all at once. LInda, I can relate-- I have my awful dining room -- 7 layers of wallpaper so far!! With paint in between!! and I'm not to the wall! decided that would wait until I get the kitchen done as I am moving my big hutch from the tiny dining room to the kitchen. Quick break to catch my breath, frig contents are now in the basement frig. Stair step exercise done for the day! grins

Thanks do feel much much better. GRRR,, most of the glue is off behind the frig, there is another dang layer of something that is flaking off. Thankfully there is a layer of ugly glossy green paint (matches one of the colors in a layer of dining room wallpaper) having to scrape that unknown layer off. Missed the strip of glue above the kitchen sink so will get to that as well. Arms are definitely getting a workout.

Hey WFN: I posted some on the bottom of my profile page. I confess, I don't know how to post pictures but you can take a look there. I have a galley style kitchen - not a lot of space but now it is great with everything new!!!

BTW: I am not sure but you may have to be a member of the "Just Pics" group to be able to see them?

I'll have to go look at your photos Jenn..I could join the group. 7 hours later I'm still trying to get the unknown layer of flakey stuff off the dang walls around my frig! Arms are tired, lots of upper body exercise ;) It's getting there though. Does put me a ways behind where I wanted to be by the end of today.. such is redoing a 50+ yo house. Lots of unexpected detours. At least I'm not paying someone else by the hour!!
