Good morning, FS buddies!

Phew... what a day yesterday.

Yesterday was probably one of the roughest days I've had doing my post-surgery time.

It felt like my whole system shut down on me.

I went to pick up wife (a tiny 5 minute walk) at work, and I went to say hi to my coworkers (we work in the same place).

They were all gathering for a little gettogether, so it fit perfectly that I got there at that time.

Everyone misses me, and hope to see me back soon. They did tell me that I look "worn out" and very tired, which makes perfect sent.

Afterwards, Wife was going to the dentist, which is 15 minutes walk away. I joined her, and we agreed to go have lunch after.

Well, on the way there, I started feeling sick. It was about to rain, it got cold and very humid. Eeek.

By the time we were done at the dentist, I felt SO tired, and I really needed a break, so we did end up going for lunch, as it was on the way back to our apartment. We had a nice little lunch, I had some water and a coffee, and more importantly a nice time-out.

I was getting really stressed out, as I had called the hospital in the morning, asking for the surgeon to call me. I did this at 8 AM, and at lunch time 4 hours later I still hadn't heard anything. I had some questions about the girdle that I am wearing. My surgeons told me when I saw her last Friday that she'd think I could stop wearing it at night starting yesterday. This was said with the idea that my swelling should have come down by then.

Well, the swelling is very much alive and kickin', so I was really in doubt about what do to, is it go or no-go on taking it off? It is better if I DO take it off? I just don't want to do things the wrong way.

Coming home from lunch I was beat. Absolutely no energy. Done. I felt sick, I was tired, I was sore - it was very rough. I even went to take a nap, something that I normally don't. I'm horrible at napping - they usually turns into me staring at the ceiling for an hour and then getting up, being annoyed that I couldn't sleep.

I slept for three whole hours.

Afterwards, I got up, we had dinner, we watched a little TV, and went back to bed. I slept 9 hours last night - something VERY rare for me. A good night's sleep for me is typically 6 hours.

Overall, yesterday was ROUGH on me. One of the worst days with this.

I have more fluid than ever before, and this might be because I am over doing things. I'm gonna try to relax more and be less active. The trouble is, I don't realize that I have over done things until it's too late.

The last two days have been kinda busy for me, and this is probably why I crashed yesterday. Today I will take more care.

Today, we are going shopping, just a short walk with a lunch break in the middle. I won't be carrying anything, and it's not a very time consuming activity. That's ALL I'm gonna do today. The rest of the day will be spent in my "daddy-chair" watching TV and poking friends on Facebook. :)

Today, I am thankful for:
- A nice long night of sleep.
- Waking up with wife, knowing we're gonna spend the weekend together. It might not be very exciting activities that we're doing, but we are together and it helps a whole lot.
- Morning coffee!

Happy Saturday, folks. Life is good!

Wow Keld, take care man. Sounds like your body got the rest it needed, be careful. It sometimes is a long road to recovery, and just like the advice we so like to give on here "It doesn't happen over night". I am glad your listening to your body and taking breaks as needed, and I am sure it was nice for you to get out and visit. Perhaps the prior days activities (walks) caught up with you. I hope you have a great saturday! Good luck with the doctors, those buggers are difficult sometimes, they seem to forget we are the customers!

Jp, I think that's exactly it - I wear myself out without realizing, and then suddenly crash because of it. I'm happy that I get to go to the hospital early, I have so much fluid buildup. If I poke at certain spots on my lower back, the liquid squished around my belly button to the point where it is clearly visible. :-\ Generally, I'm happy with my doc, though, I just wish she has put the drains to begin with. It would have looked awesomely Star Trek. :-)

Postchild is right - take care. I know what you mean about, not realising you have overdone it, until it's too late. Very wise to have a chill day - you really ust have needed that sleep / rest. X

I'm resiting FULL BLAST, Pam. :) The toughest physical exercise I'm gonna do the rest of the day will be putting on another movie.

Yay! I am so happy you got a great night of sleep! You needed it. I suppose the fluid is the protective cushion for the healing incisions - think of it like the water that surrounds a baby in the womb...your body is in a "re-birth" process. Soon, the new Keld will emerge more fabulous than ever before seen!
