Sandy701's Journal, 23 June 2012

3.1 miles walked...all over by the lake (with its hills!). UGH Index a very solid 9, with higher temps and an extra dose of humidity. The only thing that save it from being a 10 was that there was a fairly nice breeze from time to time. Very drippy when I got back home.

Pool was GREAT! Glad I went in when I did, as it's already beginning to cloud up and looks like those forecasted storms might just be brewing.

Dinner out last night was pretty good and the fish was excellent! Tried to put things into the food diary as close as I could, but it's always just a best guess. If I don't list it at all, then I either have to erase the rest of the day as well or risk skewing my daily averages, which doesn't help when I look for trends.

Glad you had a nice dinner last night. What kind of fish did you end up with? BTW - Your UGH conditions have officially reached NC. Guess they have been this way all week but I've been trapped in an air conditioned office. Please send that breeze.

"Bronzed" grouper. I guess that's a marketing/culinary term for pan-fried! Definitely fresh and very good. It had a dill/caper cream sauce on it (small amount) and also 3 grilled shrimp. Veggies were zucchini and yellow squash....told them to skip the rice pilaf for me. I asked for double veggies in lieu of the rice, but I think I just got the basic serving, when I compared it to DH's plate with both the veggies and rice on it. The hush puppies, which they put on the table as a bread item, were difficult to pass up, but I did (DH snarfed them). They really smelled more like donuts than hush puppies, so they were a real temptation for me....donuts....mmmmm..... Anyway, sorry this weather has reached you. Don't have too much "extra" breeze, but I'll see what I can do.

Sounds so good! Glad DH got to those hush puppies just in the nick of time!

I am such a novice when it comes to any kind of fish. Very unsophisticated. "Long John Silvers." That's the kind of fish I have been used to eating -- just as FRIED as those hush puppies on your table!

W4, I generally haven't eaten very much fish until these last 2 years, but have found that I can usually find a "fresh catch" at most restaurants if we're eating out. Plus....they usually offer it baked or broiled, both of which are A-OK on Atkins. While I'll do up some frozen fish at home, I just don't have the right technique so it often ends up overcooked or mushy. So, it's a real treat leaving the fish to the "experts!"

I am thinking seriously about hopping aboard the Atkins freight train bound for Weight Loss Land. What do you thhink? I am scared!

So glad you were able to go out for your seafood dinner Sandy, and your choice sounds delicious and on plan! Good for you!! I'm not a big seafood eater either, but have really developed an appreciation for it in the past year. Hubby will cook salmon or rainbow trout on the barbecue during the summer. That and grilled vegetables are mmm-mmm good! Have a wonderful Sunday!

W4....always room for one more and the Welcome mat's always out! I happen to STRONGLY believe low-carb is the way to go day-in and day-out for probably at least 75% of the public....but that's just me. I'm absolutely convinced by the science, research and rationale behind low-carb (a la Gary Taubes, Robert Atkins, the Drs. Eades, Volek & Phinney, etc.). Makes it a lot easier to follow something that one feels is right and appropriate long-term, rather than a WOE that just seems to work at the time. Of course, if my recent bloodwork comes back all screwy, well, I'll have to re-evaluate! LOL!

Carol, my mouth began to water just reading about that grilled fish and veggies! Have a great day.
