TJSloan's Journal, 13 March 2018

So, yesterday I decided to join the Weight Loss Challenge of drinking 1 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar a day. This morning I attempted my first drink. It was the nastiest thing I have ever tasted. I even added about a cup of water to the 1 cup of vinegar. I got about a quarter of it drank, before my gag reflex kicked in and my stomach started rebelling. I tossed the rest of it down the drain. It burned all the way down my throat too. I had a sprite sitting next to me, something to chase it with, and where I wanted to do my Premier Protein drink, I was afraid to because it does have milk in it. Milk + Vinegar = curdled milk, which in turn equals vomiting (in my case). Half a sprite, a cup of coffee and 1 full fat, choc glazed cake donut from a local bakery later, and I'm still tasting (burping up) the vinegar. I'm fairly sure that I will not be continuing on this challenge. I just can't stomach it.

The good news is, I am down a pound today. And not due to the vinegar lol! But, yesterday, I didn't each much, I had a Mocha dark chocolate Kind bar, some peanut butter and animal crackers (not even a full serving of animal crackers), and that one can of Marie Callender's Chicken n Dumpling soup. I chose to go to the library and study last night, well work on a couple of Algebra problems, instead of heading straight home from work. This meant, by the time I got home, I wasn't hungry, so I just stored the left over dinner that my husband had cooked in the fridge, washed up the dishes, and headed off to bed.

Blood sugar this morning was 125, oh, and I did just remember, I did have a bowl of cinnamon frosted flakes with whole milk last night before bed.

Take care ya'll!

So, I have decided why the Vinegar drink works....you don't feel like eating after you drink that stuff. Even Several hours later, when I went for lunch, I couldn't eat all of the chicken sandwich, nor could I eat all the hashbrowns. And now, I feel uncomfortingly full.

A tablespoon or two per day is plenty. I mix it in when I make my homemade salad dressing. It's not even noticeable that way.

Yeah, I might be able to do a cup of vinegar in a gallon of water and set a goal to drink a gallon of water every day, but I won't be continuing on that particular weight loss challenge on here. I'd rather drink Aloe Juice mixed in with water, at least I know what the effects are, and I can stomach that without the churning stomach. :-)

Maybe the challenge is meant to make you nauseous so you don't eat?

If that was the case, it worked. I didn't want to eat anything the entire day. Just the thought of food had my stomach rolling. Needless to say, I dropped out of that challenge. I may go with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a teaspoon of honey on salad, or even a cup of vinegar in a gallon of water mixed with lemon juice, but not straight vinegar.

One cup of apple cider vinegar a day is a ridiculous amount! You're likely to rot your teeth too if you try that one, apart from other side effects of drinking so much acid. Two tablespoons a day, in water, drank through a straw is the most you should have.

Interesting....not sure where you got that information....it should be a Teaspoon mixed with 8 ounces of water twice a day. Much easier to do...lol

Doobrie is right, that's too much acid backed up by zero science. Remember, there's also a cinnamon challenge, a wasabi challenge and a show/movies called "Jacka$$". Maybe if you mixed them all together? Please don't do that, we want you back.

You do not drink it all at once. You drink your eight glasses per day of water and add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to each glass...or two or three to taste. I happen to love the taste of ice cold water with a small amount of apple cider vinegar...a heck of a lot more than water by itself.

I got it off the challenge board, here on fatsecret. There are like 16 other participants, but no one is posting, not even the challenge starter. And yes, I thought it was a bit much, but I also know people who drink pickle juice and love apple cider vinegar straight. (Yes, I find those people, though friends of mine wierd). I'm not saying I'm smart by any means, and my husband does keep water mixed with apple cider vinegar in the fridge, I don't care for it either. However, when he mixed some cristal light lemonade, or milo lemonade with it, it was fairly good. And cinnamon I know is awesome for keeping blood sugar level throughout the day. I mix cinnamon in the grounds when I make coffee at work. I will pass on the wasabi challenge, can't do spicy. lol. Anyway, my hubby had a great laugh when I told him about it, and several people here at work did too. We all try stupid things at least once.
