I have been eating well over the number of calories I should be eating for the past few days, and my weight is up.........soooooo while succeeding at south beach, it is obvious as I have discovered throughout my 4 months on fatsecret, I have to gage my calories more closely, as well as following the program itself. If I want to remain at a steady weight, or one that goes straight down, and be in a good mood, then I have to stick to 1200 cals or less. When my weight is up and I can clearly see why on my food diary, I am so sorry that it happend.

My goal is to stop yo-yoing from day to day and to stick to 1200 cals and under. Just because I am sticking to sb foods is NOT enough.......On the positive side, I am learning more and more what certain foods and calories do to my weight, and this makes it controllabe-In the past I worried about plateaus, now it looks like I am sabataging myself by eating more in order for my weight to go up, and then I watch it go down. Believe me, a plateau is better than this silly game I think I am playing with the calories. Enjoy the night all.

I agree that calories must be watched since it is very easy to overdo things on SBD. I just let myself naturally go over the mark when I'm hungry and then pay the price by keeping the calories down until I come back into line. It's become fairly routine and not all that difficult. However, if I take my eye off the ball for a moment, I have no doubt that my will increase fairly quickly. Writing down calories every day is a pain, but the alternative seems to be worse in my case. If I understood you correctly, I think you are refining your perspective on the matter susieq.

Yea! Great job! You are "learning about your body".... that is so KEY and important! :) I'm very proud of you!! Yes, calories DO count, if you want to continue to be successful. I completely agree that if you don't really pay attention to how often you eat, the amount you eat and the total calories, even fats, .. well, I think they are important. You have come leaps and bounds and I expect you'll be a great show to watch in this up and coming challenge! :)

Thanks for feedback .... There seems to be a bit of play with this diet, as better described by information above. FOR ME, to go up in weight when I am hungry and then down again by eating less (when I am so far from my goal) is not so easy. It seems that I am adding a step.....whereas a plateau is not due to anything I am doing; facing those plateaus is better for me and will finally get my addiction more under control. When I am extra hungry and eat it is almost always emotional eating, and often then, my eye IS off the ball. CONTROL CONTROL CONTROL..NO ONE EVER SAID THIS WOULD BE EASY.....Thanx again!!!!
