It may be too few calories? The recommendation minimum for women is 1200, and 1800 for men. I try to stay between 1100-1300 most days with mostly veggies and protien. What is your normal menu?

^^^ Under-eating can cause your body to store whatever calories you eat as fat. Please try to eat more!! It’ll prove for healthier and more sustainable weight loss.

Usually Veges .. Fruits and broth Coz I'm a vegan .. But I ate biscuits sometimes tho.. Actually this is my normal calorie intake Coz I'm quite short and my BMI is normal ..

Definitely under on calories, damaging to the metabolism. I've been reading more about this. Pretty important, actually. :)

You cannot gain by eating under your basal metabolic rate. If you fluctuated it could be down to sodium or an increase in carbs which can cause extra water retention(not fat gain).

Not sure whether it's a fat or just water weight ... How should I know the difference ?
24 Feb 18 by member: xanderjoey
If you were truthful with calorie intake the difference would be 100% guaranteed. You won't gain fat with an average intake that low. Noone should have an intake that is that low on average.

If you're eating that little and gaining, you should have your thyroid checked. Your doctor will also ask about other symptoms of low thyroid function you may be having.

Have you been gaining for a while or is this just a daily fluctuation? If it's just been a couple days, you need to be more patient. Such low calories can raise the stress hormone, cortisol, which causes water retention as well. Menstrual cycles can also affect it. There are so many factors. Maybe don't focus on the scale so much. Check the mirror and/or measurements. Raise your average intake to at least 1200. Weigh your portions.

Check your ankles when the top of the socks are - is there a little “dent” going around your skin? Look at your eyelids, especially when you wake. Are your upper eyelids puffy (like mine are?) Does your weight bounce all over the place, but mostly up, all day? If you are eating less than 1,000 kCal/day, everyone else who wrote is correct. You need to tell this to a doctor. Your thyroid may not be working (mine doesn’t; makes it very difficult if not impossible to lose weight), or, also like me, you may be developing/have developed diabetes type 2- in which case you’ll have to have some more blood tests to give your doctor more information. But get pyer self to the doc, next week, fer sure! You aren’t doing anything wrong, but sometimes our bodies get out of whack .. . Good luck!

@Diablo, curious what's your RDI?

Current weight is 107, goal weight is 88 pounds? Your body is sending a message that you are being unrealistic and have a health issue.

At 88 lbs, you'd have to be 4 ft 7 for your BMI to be normal. Like many others here, I'd suggest talking to a doctor and reevaluating your goals. I say this tenderly, because I've been there, it sounds like you have some body image issues and a possible eating disorder. I hope you get the help you need!

Xanderjoey: I looked at your weight goals again and what everyone is saying is correct. How tall are you: do you have a genetic or hormonal problem so that you never grew taller than 4’6”? If you are, as I suspect, over 5’ tall, you should NOT weigh less than 100#!!!! I don’t want to be mean, I am truly concerned for your health. I am almost an “old lady”, and I weighed 90# in 5th grade - BECAUSE I WAS 5’ TALL ALREADY! I was not considered overweight by my doctor or teachers. But all the kids would say was that I was fat. Never mind that I was the TALLEST person , boy or girl, among more than 100 students. I remember the social pressure to be skinny was already there, in the early 1960’s. So I felt bad about myself -even though I was the perfect weight for my height, in fact, a little bit underweight! Please, Xanderjoey, see your doctor, or even a school nurse or counselor. Talk to someone about this. Find out what your MEDICALLY SUITABLE weight should be — and if you are already thinner than you should be, please, please, talk to a woman counselor about lack of self esteem and a need to be too thin to be healthy! I have seen several young women who were mixed up about what they really looked like. Some of them are no longer alive, they died of malnutrition. Please, Canderjoey, see your doctor before you start causing damage to your health!

Dear Canderjoey: I read more of your posts, and have a question, What do you mean when you say you are quite short. Are you shorter than 5”, 5’ even, or 5’2”? It does make a difference - although even if you are 5’2”, you don’t need to lose any more weight. I am 5’ 3”, and should weigh between 120 - 135 pounds! So, please share with us, your FatSecret friends, how tall you are. That way, our advice will be better than what we are currently posting. Thank you, and take care!

Height is 5'2.. Anyways im not that thin .. I was 88 pounds few years back n I've gained few pounds now so I'm tryna lose it back .. That's all ..
25 Feb 18 by member: xanderjoey
If you truly are 5'2" tall, then 88 pounds is too thin. You shouldn't be under 100 lbs for that height. Being that much underweight can be just as unhealthy as being overweight.

@murphthesurf, mine is around 2400.
