Read your history - welcome back. I lost a lot in 1988 btwn Aug - Dec on strict Atkins (VERY strict - HE was my doctor!). Started to lose my hair and myscle/urine problems, too, despite spending about $200/WK at the clinic (all on c cards). Had to have operation; asked for more carbs - at a couple of plain green veggies and a tomato a day, stopped losing weight. Added tofu - started gaining immediately, although tofu is all protein, but from soy beans. Put all the weight and then some back in 3 months, but with a more balanced nutrition stopped losing hair. Atkins or keto diets work well and fast, but are hell on your cardio vascular system and kidneys. Why don’t you try low cal (I am on 1500 with cal needs around 2800) and. I try to keep carbs at 150 gym or less when I can - trying to reverse Diabetes II with diet alone, no meds, & looking forward to being able to walk soon (SERIOUS pain issues) Good Luck!

Oops! My daily calories needs are **1800**, not 2800. Also, $200/wk spent at the Atkins clinic was above the Doctor’s visit — and all on VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS! Bottles and bottles of them! So Dr. Atkins KNEW his diet (which, made less strict, is the present-day keto diet) was not a healthy support for our bodies. Anyway, I just weighed in, and just reached 200#!! No wonder my slacks were falling down today!
