I've been invited to a spaghetti dinner this weekend- what should I do? It's for a very good friend of mine - she's going away for four months or so to take care of her elderly father 1500 miles away... I want to go but don't want to cheat anymore on this diet... should I bring a large salad to eat and just tell everyone I'm on a diet? I think most of this group (of about ten people) went out without me to eat at a restaurant this past week without me - most are overweight and overeat tons of carbs like sugar and seem angry I've lost a lot of weight.. they're good friends of mine and live in the large apartment complex I live in - I was invited to go out and eat last week and then a comment was made by one of them I was being excluded from things - so I imagine it was the dinner everyone went to but I don't care it would've been just another situation I would've been tempted to eat carbs - anyway any tips would help...I've lost fifty pounds from my highest weight ten years ago..I'm thinking of just saying I just have an upset stomach as it isn't right they already excluded me from a planned dinner...

Definitely bring your own dish to share and don't eat the pasta. Don't let anyone sabotage you for any reason. Don't take it personally that people are noticing positive changes. Think of it that you might be a good influence on their lives and stay strong. The dinner is not about eating pasta, it's about saying goodbye to a friend and it should be about them. Let the food only be a problem for other people. Your solution, you already stated, bring something healthy to share. Don't tell them you're on a diet, tell them that you've changed the way you eat. It might get them thinking, especially since you've shown results.
