DairyKing's Journal, 14 April 2012

You got to love the experience of carefully documenting your journal, only to go back and find that it isn't there! I don't need the typing experience; I'm pretty good. :)
After taking yesterday off, and eating a big breakfast with ham steak, eggs and fried potatoes, I felt it would be sacriligious not to get in a run today. Raining outside, so treadmill it is. Walked 1/2 mile to warm up, ran 6 1/4 miles (just over 10K), with a 1/4 mile cool-down. Showered and feeling pretty good. Puts me at about 20 miles for the week - right at the upper end of where I want to be. Wouldn't you know it, sun is shining and it's beautiful outside now.
Just want to keep from blowing my intake this weekend. Got plenty to keep me busy, but I've found myself watching the latter part of Lonesome Dove. Love that movie! Must have seen it 15 times already. I even have the DVD, and still end up watching it when it comes on TV. How do you explain that? I love a good cowboy movie - I think it's something to do with men that don't quit - no matter what the odds - and that's one of the best, Pilgrim! Guess I was born in the wrong era.

I've had the same happen to me. Frustrating. I try to remember to "save" it before I post it but I usually forget. Lonesome Dove is a great flick!!! How's your wife doing? You and she are often on my mind and in my prayers.

Oh Lonesome Dove! I have childhood memories of Dad making us watch it when it would be on TV. Just a couple years ago I decided to rent and watch the entire thing as an adult. LOVE. I cried when they hung Jake. he looked kinda like my Dad!

Yeah, Sk1nny, probably is a man thing - but there is too little integrity and character amongst men nowadays - where a man's word means everything to him, and right is right and wrong is wrong, and you have to be held accountable. Thanks, Madaboutmoose; we appreciate it. Sorry, Jess, that Jake looked like your Dad; now I know where you get your looks from. :) My eyes got wet a few times during the movie; must have been the pastrami and onion sandwich.

What a good philosophy .... You are right... Not much of it about these days.

I haven't seen that movie in a long time. I'll have to see if it is on Netflix. I agree that integrity along with courtesy, kindness, and respect are all gone.
