peppymint's Journal, 11 April 2012

So I finally weighed myself this morning. I'm at 138.0, which isn't too bad compared to the 137.2 from last Sunday. However, I'm not counting this as accurate since I haven't... ahem.. used the bathroom since Sunday evening. Which I know is not a good sign. Sorry for those of you who might see this as TMI..

I used to be pretty regular in that department. However, the past two months at this point, I've been all over the place. I hardly ever have regular bathroom trips anymore. I'm constipated for days on end, then plagued with horrible stomach cramps for a few minutes, and then the runs immediately after. I know we're not supposed to self-diagnose, but I'm pretty convinced I have at least a mild case of IBS. And I also know that this is DEFINITELY not helping with the good old runners trots.

I thought maybe the constipation had to do with not drinking enough water, so I've been guzzling 64 oz a day for the past two weeks and it's not helping at all.. Any other suggestions from the peanut gallery? Bravo if you're still reading..

I seem to always have a problem with constipation when I am on my diet 100%. You would think with all of the fruits & veggies that I am eating, that this would not be a problem. I suggest that you continue drinking the water. That will help. Regular exercise helps me too. I take Miralax when I need it for constipation, but I'm not sure if you should take it since you are having bouts of diarrhea too. :/ You may want to consult a physician. I hope that it gets better soon!

Thanks Alideni... I know I should probably go see a physician with the combo of this and my relentless heartburn :( It's just a matter of time of fitting it into my schedule of course..

I would use an enema. It's not "fun" but it is effective. I used it once and it worked almost instantly. I get freaked out if I don't eliminate regularly. All I can think about is omg all the fat is just absorbing in my body! lol

^That is just a quick fix. I obviously would advise you to see a doctor about it to get to the root of the problem so it can be prevented in the future.

Have you thought about a homeopathic approach? This type of medicine is based on the theory that you treat underlying causes and teach the body to heal itself. I've had very good results so far, and as for heartburn: check out this link http://www.livestrong.com/article/519696-bragg-vinegar-acid-reflux/

it's not showing the link but if you search bragg apple cider vinegar for heartburn, you will find the articles about how it works!

Thanks for all the tips guys! I'll definitely be exploring some options, and I'll take a look through everything tonight after work.. and Jess, no I've never had gall bladder issues. I don't believe it runs in my family either. But I do know that both my mom's side and my dad's side has a plethora of colon issues.
