Butterflygosquish's Journal, 18 August 2017

So after a bunch of yo-yo-ing in my weight by about + or - 4 pounds after donuts, cookies, and ice cream; I have finally reached a steady 121.

Even though I weigh a normal weight I noticed that I still feel really squishy. This was not surprising given my...erm...well lack of dedication to the gym. However, it shocked me to learn that I am "skinny fat." Although my weight is considered healthy I have a body fat of 30% that for my height and build makes me more at risk for obesity related diseases.

"But you look good," drone on my friends who don't realize that at 29 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes from insulin resistance. It means that even though I "look good" for my health I need to lose more fat and gain more muscle.

It really puts a spin on what I have learned before and now I am hurriedly trying to catch up on learning how much protein I need to build muscle. At least on a positive note I can say goodbye to long runs on the elliptical...for now anyway. Goodbye cardio, hello heavy lifting!

I'm gonna to get buff!
