STRUGGLING...goood monday morning..as someone that been eating/breathing a keto lifestyle..i struggle now with releasing weight an at same time eating enough carbs and sugar so that i dont bonk out on rides...bonking is when...what cyclists call hypoglycemia which is the medical term for abnormally low levels of blood glucose. You bonk when you have exhausted your glycogen stores, haven’t ingested enough carbs to produce more blood glucose, and are still riding the bike.

Anyone can bonk if they don’t eat properly on the bike..muscles burn glucose for fuel and the body stores glucose in the form of glycogen which can be broken down into useable glucose when working muscles need an increased fuel supply. The body can store enough glycogen to support approximately 90 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise. If you are going to ride more than 90 minutes, or if you are going to experience periods of high intensity riding, such as strenuous hill climbing, on a ride of less than 90 minutes, you are going to need to get glucose to fuel your muscles from food you ingest during the ride.

for me having eaten keto friendly foods for several months an then going even cleaner an cutting out as much carbs an sugar..i find it really hard to add all of that back into my daily routine..i enjoy riding...so im guessing that in order to keep piling on the miles..im gonna have to figure out what i can or cant add to my body when im riding...

for me ive been experiencing bonking but not so much when im riding but after i get off the bike...once i get off the bike ive been having brain fog..in my case..i get off bike an my brain just cant seem to think..once i get food in me an rest for 30 minutes then im ok..

so as i said...i walk a tight rope of enjoying riding and gaining muscle...the weight release isnt as likely as it once was when i first started...when it comes im happy cause i know its not gonna last long..my clothes are just as loose as they was before i showed the gain in my weight chart...still not happy about that..as the weight chart doesnt take in muscle gain ...makes it look like ive been cheating an i havent...

guess today will be a day off to rest...have rode 10 days in a row..pushing to hit my 4000 an possible 5000 by end of the year...im sure my body needs the time off...but i also know if i get very bored..il go for a ride..just seems to make the day go better for me when i ride...

tomorrow gonna try an add more carbs in as i ride..see if that helps to recover faster while i ride an to also not be so drained after i do a 30 or so..so glen how you like your new tires...are they living up to their expectations..i air my tires/tubes up most every day..just better ride if they have the right amount of air in them...
