Weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. The weight didn't hop on our bodies and it won't come off in just a week. You have to make a commitment to yourself and your health. Patience and persistence will get you to goal. If you just started exercising, than your muscles can retain water (they get little tears in the muscle fibers and retain water to help them heal). This can show on the scale as a temporary gain. Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight. Every new dieter should read it. Many things can effect the scale such as medications, sickness, hormones, too much sodium, sore muscles from exercise, stress, etc. Take your measurements! That way you can see loss of inches when the scale won't budge. Make sure your staying hydrated (flush out sodium). Make sure you have the right caloric intake to help you lose. Make yourself an inspiration board (use cork board) and put things that will inspire you on it (pics, quotes, recipes, etc.) Read fitness magazines to learn about nutrition and new exercises you might like to incorporate. Get yourself excited about getting healthy. Your worth it. The scale is only one way to measure weight loss, how we look and feel is another.
