I feel awesome right now. I volunteer with my bible study group once a month doing childcare while the leaders meet. Today was my week to help out. The reason I feel so particularly awesome though is that I had a couple situations where I was dealing with some tantruming preschool/ early elementary school aged kids and I handled it well. There's just something really gratifying about facing a challenging situation like that and staying calm to the end. It's kind of silly but I feel like I won a race or something and all I did was get a kid to calm down about the toy he wanted to play with. Seriously the kid was hysterical because he wanted to play with one specific block and another kid wanted to play with it too. The first kid HAD to have THAT block and was fussing up a storm, but I just picked him up, held him and hugged him, talked to him a little and managed to talk the other kid into sharing the block the first kid coveted so much. I know that if I hadn't had to deal with my daughter fussing like that before that I would have just gotten frustrated and upset, but thankfully some good does come out of tantrums. And now that it's over I feel like a champ. I am hoping that I will use that energy constructively and get my chores done so I can continue to feel this awesome. :-D
