Day 9 - I know I missed a few days in the journal; I have to admit I have been busy.

Surprises sense the start of this diet- I have been able to build my workout, these challenges really do work. For the push-up one I am adding a push-up a day, today was 18, when I started a week ago, 10 was a real challenge. Crunches started yesterday. Remember, I could barely do anything a few weeks ago, I got winded walk up my steps. (The thing that really made me do this diet!) The only problem I am having is my shins and calves are in pain when on the treadmill or anything that I have to stand. I really need to get NEW orthotics. I think I will make an appointment with the Doc very soon. It should not be painful to walk a mile.

As for food, I am able to live on 1500 -1700 cals; I wonder how my body is going to react when I keep this up? I am on the road most of this week and will have my next weigh-in on Friday. I drive a lot for my job, (Does driving really burn that many cals?) and I have found if I put my water in a cup and drink with a straw I drink a lot more than if it was in the bottle. It is also a good thing I am out on country roads a lot; I can pull over and pee, LOL. I would hate to be a woman. Another thing about traveling, I love to visit local places to eat when I travel, but it is very hard to calculate cals for those places….. so I have been hitting the chains as their info is already in the system. I hope this is something that after I reach my goal I can go back to?

I know not much exciting…. But lots of thoughts in my head.

If the treadmill is difficult, try the elliptical or a recumbent bike - easier on the knees and feet. Looks like you are doing great!

I tried the bike and was amazed how much more you burn on it! Me and the elliptical just don't agree, not sure why, but it just does not feel comfortable to me. I have tried a few different ones, I guess I also just don't understand the machine.

The bike is a good choice if the elliptical doesn't work. I find that the elliptical gives me a better workout, but is harder on my back. So last time I did 15 minutes on elliptical, then 20 on recumbant bike. It does take a while to get used to the motion, but if it isn't working, then the bike it is! As long as you get your heart rate going, it's all good!
