I just found out I am in the early stages of perimenopause, I could not figure out what is going on with me . my weight up and down, and I am still eating 1200 to 1400 calories daily, going to physical therapy 4 times out of the week doing yoga, and stretches for 45 minutes a day. I would get on the scale one week and it 204 and the next week I gain 4 pounds more. then I notice I would start feeling hot and then cold, then I started retaining excess fluids in my feet, legs, hands all over. then I would start to feel jittery, sad for no reason at all. then I goes to my doctor and he did a lot of different testes they all came back ok. then my doctor tells me ,this you are close to 50 years in age. so I said yes I am, then he says you are going through perimenopause.my doctor start to explain things to me one of things he said my weigh will go up and down for a while now. so he just told me don't look to lose or gain weight now, just try to stay relax, and try to continu8e to make healthier , safer choices in every thing. do what makes me happy.
211.0 lb Lost so far: 17.0 lb.    Still to go: 21.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 1.8 lb a week

I'll be that is a bit frustrating! Have you looked into nutritional ketogenics (aka Keto) as a way of eating. It's very healing and hormone balancing, so if you are in the early stages of perimenopause, it could be helpful for you.

Atkins and Keto. I'm post menopausal and weight loss can be tough. Just keep tweaking your eating and exercise to make it work and a lifestyle you can keep forever.

Why does it seem the topic of menopause is so taboo? I'm all ears. I'd like to learn as much as possible about what I can expect to encounter, and what the biological factors are that contribute to weight instability. I am not one to trust Western medicine that seems so intrenched in "BIG PHARMA". Hoping that we ladies can gather the answers. When I questioned my mom (an early vegetarian from the Bohemian age),she said that she was happy not to have any problems during her change. She told me it is the time to take your wisdom and enjoy all that life has to offer, be kind to yourself, others, and nourish your body with food that is not manipulated in a lab.

I know KETO or LCHF works for some people, but over the last 20+ years, I have found that balanced eating yields the best results and is by far the most sustainable. I tried EVERYTHING to lose wieght, even found and MD that would prescribe meds with known weight loss side affects and nothing worked until I was taught what foods to eat and when to eat them. Life has been great ever since, I weigh the same now as I did at 20, and I am strong and healthy. Want to know more just ask me! -c
