Argh! The cookies, fruit, and wine hit me today. Gained a pound! But I worked out hard today -- 40 minutes on the elliptical stepper (445 calories). And this week I will be very good. Gotta keep the goal in mind.

Question? Should I stay in phase 1 a week longer because of the one-day break in the diet?
202.0 lb Lost so far: 3.0 lb.    Still to go: 17.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

You're doing well, don't beat yourself up too much for a one pound gain. This stuff fluctuates a bunch. I don't know about staying in phase 1 a week longer. Seems like it might be a good idea in general, if you think you can stick with it. My weight loss has been so slow in general that I decided to stay in phase 1 for an additional week and was pretty happy with how it went. The danger, of course, is that most people find phase 1 to be pretty restrictive and are more likely to cheat because of that. If you can stick with it, an extra week in phase 1 would probably be good. Did you ever find a buddy, by the way?

I believe that my weight loss has been slower than it should be. the reason for this is that I used Phase I as a crutch to go off the diet. The mindset being oh well I cheated no problem I'll go on the Phase I on Monday. for that reason my willpower has weakened. Phase I is not a quick fix it's a method of curbing your cravings to get you through your "lifestyle change" not a quick way of losing weight whenever you feel the need. The key to taking weight off and keeping it off is changing your lifestyle, which means every day, not just those that you feel like it. Don't make the mistake that I did. I was happy with the first chunk of weight loss, and felt that I could go off the diet at a whim, because I had Phase one to rely on, it simply doesn't work in the long term.
