Thank you again for sharing your traditions with us. I am still learning North Carolina New Year's Traditions. Didn't really have too many from where I'm from - other than the get drunk and count down 'til midnight one.

I don't pretend to understand but it is something about pork, black eyed peas and greens must be eaten for luck - and if there is a chore you don't like to do, then you aren't supposed to do it on New Years Day (so then you won't have to do it the rest of the year?).

I see, we have something like that in Germany too. As New Years food they have something like donuts without a hole, these are deep fried and filled with plum butter (that is different form region to region as well). As for work, I was told you are not supposed to do any chores between Christmas and New Year's otherwise the work will never end.

I did not only feel lazy, I was lazy. But I guess I needed to catch up. Did a lot of leaning today, the house is ready for a new beginning as am I :-) Happy and wonderful new year to all!
