JockoT's Journal, 01 December 2016

Shocked to find I was 15 stone this morning, after being sub 14 stone exactly 6 weeks ago. My weight is totally out of control. I have been here before (25 years ago), and it was disastrous then, as I gained more weight than I had lost.
My first act was to share the news with my wife, as I need her help to break the pattern. As of today, everything has to be weighed and counted. No exceptions. I will also adhere strictly to 16:8, eating no sooner than 10:00 and no later than 18:00. This will also have to be followed on working days, so no breakfast before I go out. I am terrified that things just slide back to what they were.

Is that a typo as I see your weight at about 14st 3lb? Your graph doesn't look out of control but what I see isn't the same as what you feel. It's a new month and a good idea to have a refresh on what you're doing to get where you want to be. I know 16:8 worked well for you before. You can always take some cheese to work for breakfast after 10am when you're in. take care and chin up, Jocko!

No, it is no typo. I weigh myself every morning (for Trendweight.com), but only post Friday's weight here. Tomorrow's entry here will be a horror story!

I hope your dear wife will be supportive of you. It sounds like you've got a renewed determination to stick with it though so I think you'll be OK now.

Of course, I forgot you only record every Friday. All the same, it seems like you're taking matters into your own hands and enlisting help. It's been a tough, roller-coaster few weeks for you, it's hardly surprising things have gone awry but you will conquer it and you will come back stronger.

I agree this has been a very difficult and stressful time, but I think you've done what you needed to do during that time, and I think you'll soon fix this now too. If eating in this time restricted way really does help you, then ok, go for it - but if you find it more of a hassle than a help, I can't really see why eating healthy choices in small quantities under a planned daily maximum total could be wrong. so combined with 10:00 - 18:00 and challenge mentality I guess you get two points if you meet 10:00 - 18:00 and 1 point if you only have 100cals either side of that time zone - and nil point if you eat more than 100 cals either before or after 'the zone' ? but however you do it - I wish you all the best success.

Things went pear shaped when I went in for my op in May and have stayed pear shaped ever since. I am so close to my target but just cannot get my head back in the right place (mentally. not physically - for those who may be wondering just how serious an op I had to undergo!).

Lol - Jocko! Glad your head wasn't affected by the op 😊

You've had a difficult time recently Jocko, you need to acknowledge this. It is difficult to get back into something when you've had a break in stride but you will. You have so much support here and at home so just go one step at a time and don't be disappointed in yourself, as I say, give yourself a break.

Hi Jocko, our mental state can greatly affect how successful we are for sure- or is that just me being mental?! - lol. It sounds like you are getting things sorted and have a plan- you will work it out and be back on track I am sure. Take care and stay strong :)

I totally agree with what Newmooney wrote Jocko. If we are not on board mentally it is a lot harder to continue to stay on track! You now have a solid plan and it has worked for you before. Wishing you all the best 🙂

Hey Jocko. I can empathise more than you might imagine. All I gotta say is what I say to myself in the mirror... fix what you can fix, accept what you cannot and smile to hide the pain. I talk to my wife all the time about my journey. She is a great solid rock for me to anchor to while I bob about in this sea of emotions. But the deal is that when she needs a rock I return the favour. That's fair innit? I hope you get it reined back in. Keep the faith. :)

Jocko, you should never be dissapointed with yourself. Your journey has inspired me in a way that Weight loss clubs could never do. Can you remember what you really felt like early on this year when you were trying to get down to below 15stone. How hard was that and how long was your journey? Put yourself back there and you are once again achieving . It's a new day now. I had a terrific set back a few weeks ago and, in my head I still haven't caught up with where I thought I was. You supported me Jocko, you were here for me and I'm doing a lot better for it. We are in this together . Keep.going. but I'm sure you will 🌼
