Ok, I'm liking the Agave Nectar.. Tried some on my tea last night, got it in my coffee this morning.. More calories than sugar...but tastes.. hmm.. Cleaner.. if that's a sufficient adjective..

Hun, did you read the articles about agave nectar? :( It's not cleaner. Not by a long shot. Most agave “nectar” or agave “syrup” is nothing more than a laboratory-generated super-condensed fructose syrup, devoid of virtually all nutrient value, and offering you metabolic misfortune in its place. Unfortunately, MASTERFUL marketing has resulted in the astronomical popularity of agave syrup among people who believe they are doing their health a favor by avoiding refined sugars like high fructose corn syrup, and dangerous artificial sweeteners. You're better off health-wise sticking with table sugar.

I've read articles both for and against it. I've yet to make a final decision on it.

Ok, how about we go about it this way. :) What have you read positive about it? Please understand that I'm trying to be helpful here -- it's like hearing about someone who has read that drinking anti-freeze (which is also low-glycemic) is now somehow good for you through a very clever marketing scheme, when stacks and stacks of evidence shows that it's the exact opposite. I'm curious what you've read positive about it that would offset the negatives to the point where you've 1) consumed it, and 2) have yet to make a final decision on it?

Roobert, I understand you're trying to be helpful. :) Marketing schemes have nothing to do with it. I don't have a television so I don't see commercials. I don't buy magazines or newspapers so I don't see ads. Comparing it to anti-freeze makes the statement no better or worse than those on this site who tell me it's good. Ok, it's bad... Why? If you want to help, share studies, evidence to support your opinion.

Hey Pickles, just curious, what is the calorie and carb load on a 12 oz serving? Thnx!

Oh I see it isn't a drink but just a sweetener...

I used a Tablespoon and it's 16 carbs. So counting Macros, sugar is better cause it's only 12 grams. Its supposed to be sweeter, to use less...? but.. I didnt' feel that...

I thought I did that in Tim's journal entry, I'm sorry. :( There really are too many to list here. Google this "What is the hype about agave nectar" and just start reading. No harm ever comes from reading, including the reference hyperlinks to the studies that a lot of the articles include. :D I really do hope that helps! I just don't want to see someone think they're doing something good for themselves when in fact they're sabotaging all their best intentions to get healthy. I wish you all the best!!!

Thanks, Roobert :) I'm still reading. I may just stick with honey.
