The problem is that one is never enough. If it were, it wouldn't be such a big deal. What happens to me is that one is just enough to make me lose a slight amount of control, and that is what sends me back for another glass and perhaps another. If I can resist the first glass, I do a lot better. Yesterday I had a small glass of lager, which meant I had another, followed by some bran flakes. I didn't need the beer or the bran flakes. Sooner or later, I'll learn a lesson. Good luck today.

I think a lot of us are prone to this. It's hard to break the habits of a lifetime, but try and think about what made you overweight in the first place. For me, I know that wine and beer were a large part of it, and when you're restricting your intake, there simply isn't room for them. I rarely drink at home now, and only have beer very occasionally. I still drink wine if I go out for dinner, but rum and diet coke seems to be a better option in a bar, as I think you get more alcohol for your calories! I also find that alcohol leads to snacking, so have to watch that, and try and limit the damage.

I love real ale and enjoy a long walk followed by several strong ales. Now I have gin with lots of ice, soda with a slice of lime in a pint glass.

Linclass - because it's fun and a life without fun is a life not lived (forgive the dreadful paraphrasing/butchery). Give yourself the odd slip-up, just take it easy on the self flagellation and go forward with chins raised.

thank you all 😜 the comments are witty and so very helpful...... that's not sarcasm by the way... nearly all of the comments made in the posts on this website are of a very "human" nature, people just trying to rally and help others, I think we all appreciate them... I also realise there are days when I will get it completely wrong and it's not the falling off but getting back on that's important have a great weekend all x and don't forget to put thit clocks back tonight (in the UK that is) 😎

You're so right about "getting back on". I'm a sucker for wine (today is heading that way as I've just sat down with a large glass after a very productive morning) but tomorrow will be better as I have no more in 😉 Take care 👍

The most important is the progress not the perfection.
