Decided to go on an overnight car camping/drone flying/photography trip. Drove out about 20 mies east of Indio on I-10, getting to the spot after dark. Had a horrible night trying to sleep due to high winds that blew all night long. Here are a couple pics.
So upon waking up the following morning to the continuing wind, I decided to go to Palm Springs, to the windmill area and drive my suv down a dirt road to get to an area behind a ridgeline, sheltered from the winds.
Big mistake as I bogged down up to the axle in sand, a mile or so from the pavement. So I locked up the vehicle and hiked out. Luckily it wasn't too hot and about an hour later, a tow truck with 4wd showed up and pulled me out. $250 and I was glad to pay it.
I never did get to fly the thing.
Pretty excited about the drone, coupled with the Go pro I just bought, this will allow me to film some of the places in nature that I have visited. But after the debacle from yesterday, I will most likely hike in. Guess I had better buy one of those special backpacks for it.
