dukesmom's Journal, 08 December 2011

I seem to be losing a half of a pound every few days which I guess is better than gaining. Eating breakfast is hard for me. Most of my adult life I haven't had breakfast till around noon. I know I should but all I want is black coffee. I recently had to start taking medicine in the morning and I have to eat with it so now I am.

My most difficult time is after dinner. I have realized I am not hungry. I just want to eat. And I'm not talking fruit. I want cookies, a tub of frosting with a spoon and a bag of frozen Reese cups. I haven't given in to this in weeks and I do feel better.

I'm glad my friend Lynne recommended this site to me. And I'm grateful to finally have a few buddies:) Thanks to all who added me!!

Two things to consider about breakfast: 1. When we go to sleep, our bodies go into "hibernation". It shuts down calorie burning to ensure that we're safe when we sleep. You'd think that we start burning calories again when we wake up - but we don't! We start burning calories when we tell our bodies that there is plenty of food. We show this by eating. So we simply don't start REALLY burning calories until we sleep. 2. Studies have shown that people who are on a weight loss regimen and eat 2 eggs for breakfast every morning will lose weight averagely 65% FASTER than those who don't. I'd advice you to enjoy a good 2-egg breakfast every day. It's all about habit. Just as much as it's a habit to NOT eat breakfast, it can be a habit to WANT TO eat breakfast. :)

...and as soon as that sugar addiction starts to disappear, so will the munchies. :) I've been there, and it can be hell... but it DOES get better.

You will do fine, it does take time for the cravings to go away. One way that you can stay on top of them is by not skipping meals. When you get too hungry you will be more likely to eat things that you shouldn't.

Thanks kingkeld. I LOVE eggs so I may try having them in the morning. I have been eating breakfast for about months but usually just a fiber one bar. I seriously just don't want any food in the morning. And my sugar addiction is truly addiction. I can eat one apple. Howevee, eating one cookie starts a craving that I have to fight! My heart doctor told me to eat 1 ounce of dark chocolate a day. I have it when I'm not hungry so like you and veghead said, I don't feel deprived but I don't eat bad stuff just because I'm hungry. Thanks! The support is so important. It really helps me!!
