I have been "in the groove". As long as I don't eat with others, I can keep my consumption to a minimum and lose wt. Of course if it is a social event I just don't seem to be able to help myself.
I have just joined a challange:
Lose 10% of your body wt in 10 weeks. For me that would be 20# in 10 weeks or 2# each week. This seems reasonable and I think I can do it.

I keep telling myself that I can't taste that cookie, cake, (insert your favorite here) after a few minutes. The pleasure is so fleeting that it just isn't worth it. Sometimes I fail, but usually it works for me.
