Hermiones Mom's Journal, 04 October 2016

I guess I just threw up my hands and ate what I wanted for the holiday Sunday and Monday. I didn't go crazy, but I ate several different things with wheat, although any significant dairy, but the wheat about killed me today. I knew early today that I didn't feel well, but I managed to make it through my ice skating lesson without incident, but then I went grocery shopping, and by the time I got home, I had to leave everything in the vestibule and RUN to the bathroom. Ultimately, I decided to take an Imodium, which I do very seldom, but I didn't want to have to skip agility fun run tonight. When I first got IBS, Imodium didn't really accomplish anything because as soon as it wore off, the symptoms came back because I didn't understand what in my diet was causing the problem. But now, I've had enough experience that if I need to take Imodium, I do, and then I make sure that I'm back on my diet immediately so that the problem actually resolves itself. Now that we're past the holiday, I just really have to get my act together. This is ridiculous. On the other hand... I'm pretty proud of the fact that I haven't gained any weight in the past few months. In spite of the fact that I haven't been able to push myself downward, I've not reverted back to my old eating habits -- I'm sticking to my new plan, with occasional unfortunate forays into eating wheat products. I won't do it again soon. Honest.

Thanks to both of you. I'm trying to get back in the saddle. I want so much to make goal by February, but I doubt I will -- but I hope to get close.
