Missychick21's Journal, 20 November 2011

So yesterday I forgot to mention it was both my Mom's birthday (57) and my nephew's (18). I hate not seeing my family barely at all... 2 of my nephews are now adults and I am merely 23...

Anyhoot, back to "diet" talk. I haven't recorded everything I have ate the past couple of days since it was mostly leftover clam chowder and such and I didn't want to break it down for every ingredient. It was from the Atkins site so it was definitely an ok food and it sure turned out amazing (I am extremely picky about my clam chowder taste). Now to find some kind of chili I can make to taste like Nalley's Hot Chili...I don't even care so much about the beans just the taste.

I have decided to not let the numbers on the scale effect my mood at all because of the hormonal junk going on, so if I lose great if I gain it back *shrug* oh well. When I am practically having TOM issues all month what can I really expect right? I have been doing pretty good about going down but sometimes on my no challenge days I go to a new low then go back up again. I still wish to meet my goal of 180 by New Year's just so I can make an appt with my doctor ask him to do a full blood work-up and be able to say "Look demanding obese doctor of mine, I have lost 31 pounds since the end of July HA!" Also, I think having all my blood work numbers would be a good thing to have handy since friends have been asking about my cholesterol worried about Atkins making it go up.

Well, enough rambling time to figure out breakfast and start my day. Hope everyone has a Happy Sunday :)

My friends were concerned to see my cholesterol as well, but it came down 30 pts.....so they were all very surprised. I don't know why I wasn't at all :)

I'm so proud that you are taking control of your health. I recently went to a women's conference and one of the things the speaker said was that women generally just kinda sit back and wait for things to happen. In ALL aspects of our lives - education, career, and especially health. That made me really think and was such a great motivator for me while I am still adjusting to this new lifestyle. :)

Yvonne- I have never had my numbers checked before except for blood sugar but that one I can check at home. If they aren't high though then obviously I am doing well :)

Michelle- I am very stubborn when it comes to what I want and what I know is right. That is probably what has kept me going with Atkins...I know it is right and I refuse to fail myself. I have had to be independent for most of my life so I could never sit back and just let things happen :)

On a separate note the WIC lady praised me on my daughter's health. Apparently her whole body percentage used to be 98% and now it is 74% so she is no longer overweight at 4yrs 9 mon. She said by changing my own lifestyle has probably helped my daughter get healthier. I didn't put my daughter on a diet or anything but she went down a pound and gained an inch and half in height so she has greatly evened out :D She didn't tell me my 1 1/2 yr old son's full body percentage though but he is a bit more of a difficult story...

Nice comment on your daughter - with kids all you have to do is substituting healthy food for junk food.

I was always a little strict on the junk food anyways lol other parents would make comments about me being too protective but neither of my children have cavities when one friend's son had 13 by the age of 2. I can walk down the candy aisle without my children going crazy begging for sweets. Bananas on the other hand are a different story lol. My grocery store though has given me free snack cards for the kids to swipe whenever I check out that gets them a free banana or apple! I had to buy one every time I was there anyway so getting them free is a big bonus for me :D
