Food can make you sick. Food can make you sick! FOOD CAN MAKE YOU SICK!!! Why can't I get this through my head? I went to the store yesterday with my food stamps and bought all healthy stuff . . . stuff that I can eat and not have to worry about. I didn't buy chips. I didn't buy cookies or cake or pie. I bought ONE treat that was supposed to keep me for the month, a large can of almonds. I'm not wacky about nuts, even though they're good for you, but these were "Creme Brulee" flavored nuts (OK, so not so healthy, but still better than cookies.) The problem is, I ate half the can after I got home yesterday and the other half today. Oh, I got lots of fiber and whatever other nutrients almonds have, but I also got all that sugar. (I did read the label, and there was no hydroginated, partially hydroginated, high fructose, etc.) I forced myself to have something healthy-ish for dinner last night and I forced myself to have a late breakfast today, but OH DO I FEEL SICK. I'm not a 6 year old, for heaven's sake. Why can't I control myself if I have goodies in the house. I have so much admiration for Stef who can bake cookies and make candy and resist eating them. I just couldn't do it.

Hey Johanne! Look at the bright side... almonds on the whole are good for you but I think the Creme Brulee flavoring did you in! LOL! I just can't eat anything like that either without it triggering my sweet tooth. Guess that is why I try my best to eat as low a carbohydrate diet as I can. It does tend to help get rid of the cravings. You will be fine. If this was your only treat for the month... you had it.. and now it's time to get on with the plan. Have a great weekend! ((((Hugs!))))

Mom,I can't eat high protein because I'm borderline kidney failure. I have to eat mostly carbs. Usually those carbs take the form of gluten free whole grains, legumes, veggies, fruit and, yes, SOME nuts and seeds. Just not candy coated! LOL. It will be a while before I pull a stunt like THIS again. You have a great weekend too and thanks for the hugs. Back atcha!!!

Yvonne, that's the problem. I haven't been a good girl all summer. I just haven't been as bad as I used to be. Hehe.

Bren, I tried making snack packs . . . dried apricots, prunes, nuts and seeds . . . very healthy. Very high calorie. And I ate them all up. I kept getting up and walking to the kitchen with the almond can and putting it in the freezer. 10 minutes later I was up, walking to the kitchen and pulling the almonds OUT of the freezer. I'm not that wacky about almonds, so I didn't expect this. It was that damned creme brulee coating that did me in. I have seldom tasted anything that good. LOL! That'll larn me. Hope your weekend is great and I'm sending love back.

Hi Jo, thank you for visiting me today. As I sit here reading your post, I'm snacking on a small bowl of dried fruit with nuts from Costco and trying not to go back to the bag. I was having an obsession last week with Halloween candy. Twix specifically. I was combing through the candy bowl like a fiend! So you are not alone there... and we can overcome! :)

Yes, we can Coco, but why do we have to keep learning the hard way? LOL! My Halloween thing was the snack size Mounds Bars in my son's heaping trick or treat bowl. They live waaaaaay out in the country, so they didn't expect any trick or treaters. Instead, they got ME. Hehe. Be good with your dried fruit and nuts. They're great in moderation. Hugs!!!
