Evie1010's Journal, 31 October 2011

Super excited that I continue on the downward slope of successful WL. Thankful for this WoE...for this community...and for my healthy lifestyle. Thankful for the good Dr's report...BP good, Triglycerides at 90...and all other levels are right where they need to be. The only concern is my cholesterol is slightly higher than it needs to be, much due to my genetic predisposition. Not looking forward to taking a statant drug for that, but oh well. Doc felt it would be a temporary thing since I am still maintaining a healthy lifestyle and losing excessive weight. She was quite impressed with the rate of my losses and the increased activity and overall improvement in health I am enjoying.

Just wanted my FS buddies to know that I am still gonna use FS to track my losses and I will enter my food/exercise as often as I am able. I do not have the discretionary time I had had in the past when I could spend a good bit of time on the computer while working in my office. We've had some interesting changes in our lives lately... I'll give you the scoop!

Several months ago my husband and I planted a brand new church. Due to the new church plant, my husband will need to be bi-vocational for a few years until the church grows to the point that it can support us financially. Needing the health insurance since I am self-employed, and during the time that he was seeking alternative fulltime employment, I took another job which will allow me to work from home. This is great for me because it still allows me the time to work my very successful home-based business... Other perks are I do not have to spend the time/money for gas commuting to a job site, nor do I have to spend $ for eating out for lunch; and I love being able to stay right on plan preparing foods in my own kitchen. Further, I love that I can work in my PJs if I want to...this is great for me since I have lost 62 lbs and I don't need to buy a new 'work wardrobe' - (many of my clothes are drapes on me) and for now I can still use the clothes that I had saved from about six years ago. And, that leads me to the other perks...I get a very nice employee discount which also offers considerable savings on the merchandise we sell. I have access to everything: women's apparel, home furnishings, jewelry, vitamins, electronics,kitchen-everything...you name it! It is GREAT! I also like the job a lot. Having run my own business for 12 years, I am a 'natural' at customer service and each of my quality evaluations have all been at 100%. My supervisor said she's never seen consistently high stats like that. Furthermore, I am so pleased that I have received 10 positive commendation calls from customers (to my superiors) since starting this new job. That makes me feel so good to know that my hard work is being acknowledged/appreciated. It is so great to work from home. I love it that my Mary Kay business isn't missing a beat - I am right on top of my client's needs and still holding appts regularly in my home, helping women to look years younger and feel beautiful. I love it!! = )

And the great news also is our church plant is going super! Once a month we cancel morning services for "Be the Church Sunday"...this is where we go out into our community and serve others. Yesterday we awoke at 4am and went to the Roanoke Rescue Mission and served 400 homeless ppl breakfast. Our church folks loved the experience of ministering to our city's most needy ppl and we are all looking forward to going back!

With all the busyness of this new job, plus working my home-based business and helping Jim with our church plant, I just do not have the discretionary time I used to have where I could spend lots of time on FS. I just wanted to explain what I have been up to so ya'll will know how much I *want* to be on here with you more...and I would *love* to be able to keep up with each of your lives more than I have been able to of late. I will still hop on every couple of days, but I can't journal every single thing in my food diary like I used to. (Disclaimer: if someone is new to FS and reading this...know this: It is not recommended that you "wing it". You need to journal every single morsel you put in your pie hole. LOL Since I have been at this over a year, and I have totally changed my lifestyle..and I have had over a year to learn this WoE...I've got this thing down pat. I *never ever cheat* so I can totally trust myself; or else I would not opt to go w/o entering foods.) I am doing super with continued WL, loving new recipes I am creating, which I will share with ya'll as soon as I am able. I am maintaining an active lifestyle by exercising about 4 times each week - even adding some jogging to my brisk walking/hiking regimine.

Oh, and also - my new fav. Just bought Tony Little's Bison meats. Burgers, bacon, sausage, etc. All hormone-free and super healthy. We are loving it!!

Well lovelies, that's about all... Hope everyone is blessed in every way! Looking forward to touching base with ya'll again soon!

Joyfully yours, Evelyn
