LadyinDenim's Journal, 29 June 2016

Since I first listened to Dr. Fung, I have wanted to do a five day fast because I want maximum benefit for my skin. The HGH makes the skin thicker. Also, autophagy will reduce skin sagging.

I marked my calendar to start this five day fast on July 4, which is the new moon.

It will be a good time to address my addiction to digital media. I don't know if addiction is the right word, but I have a lot of screen time every day compared with other activities. I have books I want to read and I need to start spending time outdoors.

I will be working the first two days of the fast, which should be fine.

Nice statement about skin, Lady! Thanks for sharing! I think autophagy helps with hair and nails too, just from personal results. I'm not on a google mission this morning...lol. I think addiction is the right word for some, including myself...lol. I'm going to try to work on that as well. Good luck with the fast! YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO! :)

FS is my source of support through this process, so obviously, I can't swear off screen time 😞 I will probably have to FLY it and set a timer ☺

Agreed, Lady, I'm thinking the same thing.

Yah, don't cut off your support. Just stick to reading enough to be supported and supportive. No nodding through diet journals for sport!

I agree to abstain from nosing through Food Diaries during my 5 day fast. That will be harder than not eating! 😅

Hello LadyinDemin - I am curious to learn more about Dr. Fung. Can you direct me to a good website or video that you have watched?

And yes! Congrats on your weight drop! That's outstanding :)

I'll be interested in hearing how that goes, Lady. I've been seeing these videos too and the skin health benefits are very appealing. My concern grows as I watch my skin get more aged and think about my 92 yr-old mom and the terrible skin tears she gets with the least abrasion (which heal slowly due to her diabetes). Anything that reduces insulin should also help with skin (outside of the HGH effects) too because skin damage is related to the insulin resistance of type 2 diabetes. I'm working my way up to a 24 hr fast; so far I've made it to 18 hours.

@SupPaddlegirl, Dr. Fung has his own YouTube channel. A good place to start is "Thereapeutic Fasting - Solving the Two Compartment Problem." @Trackin64, I am binge watching Butter Bob today. He lost 145 lb with LCHF and fasting. He is a grandfather as well, and has no loose skin. I am hopeful! Fingers crossed ☺

When you get on that 5-day I bet watching those videos will help you stay the course.

Butter Bob has a layman's way of explaining insulin, obesity, and fasting. Did you know that obese people gain weight on the same meal a thin person eats because they ARE obese? The fasting insulin level is higher and the post meal insulin response is WAY higher! We just sock away every stray calorie. Also, just being fat makes us HUNGRIER! Low carb, high fat diets are good, and fasting is better. We can heal ourselves from obesity and its related health risks. Very exciting times ☺

Wow, that's a huge loss! Interesting about the fasting. I've never read about it before!

Slimmy10, if you look at my full weight history, you will see daily fluctuations of 2 pounds is normal. This drop is unusual, and I expect to bouce up at least one pound tomorrow morning.
