It's been a really bad week, diet wise. Sunday night, on my way from home after a 14 hour shift I was in a hit and run. Completely their fault, I was cycling along my right of way. Just that the driver decided, as drivers so often do, that their couple of seconds was more important than my safety. I was on the main road passing small cross roads, driver just went straight through, against my right of way, sent me flying and didn't stop. Spent a couple of hours in A&E, had x-rays done and I'm lucky I didn't break anything. In a lot of pain though, four nights later. My knee has swollen a hell of a lot, gone down a bit now but still massive compared to how it should be. I can't seem to find a comfortable position with it. It feels stiff, I can't keep it in the same position too long. I must've twisted a bit in the crash because I'm getting a lot of pain from my right hip up.

I'm angry about the accident, all it'd have taken to prevent this is the smallest bit of courtesy. Instead, we've got another criminal on the roads and the police aren't interested at all in chasing it up. Obviously I was shaken when it happened and my bike is in bits, but I'm not so shaken by it that I won't be cycling again. As soon as I've got it repaired, and as soon as I'm able to, I'll be back on it but I don't know when that'll be. I've not been to work since, I can't exercise, I've been bored out of my mind at home so I've been eating crap to pass the time. I'm supposed to be going to Glastonbury next week. Well no, not supposed to be, I am going no matter what. Just concerned about how well I'll be able to get around the site. Obviously it was painful being thrown off my bike but it's the knock on effect that's most damaging. It's really taken the wind out of my sails.

So sorry this has happened to you. You're totally right, their few seconds is worth more to them than you're safety and the fact that they left not even knowing what damage they could have done. I wish you a very speedy recovery. As for your diet, well your body needs fuel to heal so just concentrate on that for now. Hope you have a great time at Glastonbury.

Selfish drivers are the worst! I hope you completely wrecked the side of his car. Have you tried calling local bodywork shops with a description? So pleased your injuries aren't worse but a twisted knee can take a hell of a time to repair. Annoying as they are to use, have you thought of borrow crutches? On second thoughts, if it's as muddy as usual they'll just sink into the ground with point loading. Hate to say it though but since you're at home, why don't you try out some new, healthy recipes? We all do it at times but there isn't really any excuse for eating crap when we have time to prepare and cook properly. Marinaded chicken skewers, loads of stir fried veg and finish with chilled fruit (or vodka injected and frozen water melon 😜). Not much in the way of carbs, easy to prepare if you don't mind shredding veg and a treat at the end. Get better soon, Matey. Px

That is just awful...nothing worse than an arrogant driver who thinks his time is more important than someone else's safety. People of any age can be so damned immature and self-centered... I'm so, so sorry that happened to you and I can't really come up with appropriate words because it has to be frustrating as hell. But I will say - that jackass is not worth your spirits, your esteem, or your time, your well-being, your life, or your joy. Try to not punish yourself for what THEY did. Is there anything you could do to pass the time? Dive into a good book, maybe check out some good documentaries or somesuch? Just anything to keep this from letting you beat up on yourself is all. I hope Glastonbury rocks and keep your eyes on that/the horizon. Seriously, though, all my condolences - good grief, some people shouldn't be permitted to have keys...
