MerryWeather's Journal, 28 September 2011

So I read a post from a member on this site who suggested weighing in only once a week because our bodies fluctuate so much. I want to consider it because if others have had success, I want to follow in their footsteps, however, I think for me I need to weigh in everyday and just look at my progress week by week (on Mondays for me because that is the first day I started.) The reason is that at the end of the day when my eating habits are the worst, I always have it in the back of my mind that I weigh in tomorrow morning and it helps me to not go too overboard. If I thought I don’t have to weigh in for a few more day I was throw in the towel and tell myself I have plenty of time to make it up later (which I never do). However, I know today’s weigh-in (1 pound loss) does NOT reflect my poor choices yesterday, so I will just have to know my body is fluctuating and I shouldn’t be surprised if my weight goes up a little this week on days I am eating well. My goals are really only 0.5 – 1 pound loss a week. I am looking for a lifestyle change rather than rapid weightless by Christmas.
Perhaps my scale is not calibrated? How often do people replace their home scales?

I actually weigh in everyday but I only record my Saturday weight. I think this daily weigh-in keeps me accountable and set's the tone for my day. I only record the Saturday weigh-in because of the fluctuations. With this approach the important this is to not stress out too much over the fluctuations (it isn't easy, I was concerned today over my fluctuations) but I honestly feel like weighing in daily is helping me to learn how my body reacts to the changes I make.

Weighing in every day used to frustrate me so badly. I'd think I'd lost a pound and nope, stayed the same. Ughhh! I only weigh myself on Saturday mornings now. More satisfying and I have something to work for during the week. Good luck girls!

i also weigh in daily ...errr morning and evening ..this helps me to keep accountable and actually motivates me to not overeat at evening as once ive weighed myself in the evening i know to myself ...thats it ...then in the morning i like to see my result ..i used to worry about this habit as everyone says ...blah blah blah ...but my dietition agrees it is a personal thing and it is whatever works best for you .i also get weighed by my dietition on a 6 weekly basis and this is recorded ...but i dont really let that worry me anymore as im doing ok

I also weigh myself every day. At first, it used to really upset me until i got used to my daily flucuations. And yes, i also use it to keep me accountable. It's really a personal choice. some people like to weigh in every day, some every week and still others do it once a month. You have to find what works for you. =) I must warn you though, at first it does become a bit obsessive.

I also weigh myself everyday but only record once or twice a week. Weighing myself everyday keeps me accountable. But only recording once a week let's me stay focused on the long-term.
