Wednesday but yesterday I thought today would be Thursday!! Oh dear.

So ... last night as I got into bed somehow my dog knocked my alarm clock off the night stand onto the floor. Took me a while to find it and when I did both the time had been changed and the alarm time. Reset. Thought I had set the alarm. Woke up late at 4:15 am (I know that is insane to be thought of as "late") which meant there was no time to exercise this morning. Drat. My whole routine was cattywampus and I'm dragging my rear around this morning, looking for my energy and enthusiasm!! I have to smile though, I guess one way or another I am determined to mix it up!!

The scale read 208.6 this morning.

Thank you everyone for all your counsel on my journal from yesterday. I am taking it to heart as I continue to plod along this path of mine.

As the weather cools I think it is a good idea to switch up my breakfast meals. I used to have eggs every morning. For a while I had oatmeal every morning. Then I read oatmeal might trigger migraines so I stopped. Of course the migraines didn't stop so I guess I can eat oatmeal. Could it be I am a creature of habit? So, I just need to establish some new habits, right? With more variety.

Dens ... your ipad makes some interesting statements!!! I was pleased you came back and clarified because I was completely baffled. I have never heard of Damascus Bakery. Remember I live in the sticks so shopping choices are limited at best.

Exercise. I currently do an interval routine on the elliptical, 2 minutes tough, 2 minutes easy, for 30 minutes. At the toughest level it really isn't that hard for me. It is a good machine but old so it may not have all the alternatives some of the newer machines have for programming. It is my "comfort" zone. I also get to watch DVD's whle I exercise which I enjoy. I will mix it up. I will add Pilates back in. I will use those kettle balls again. I will wake up my metabolism.

So, no peanut butter? Is peanut butter a "no-no?" Not that I eat it now but one of the suggestions was adding more fat. Almond butter is so darned expensive. I detest olives.

I appreciate the snack ideas. It does help.

Today something wonderful will happen to me!! I like myself!! I love my body!! I take care of myself and am kind to myself. I am organized and efficient. I plan well and carry through with my plans. I am an expert in my field. People pay me for my expertise. I am a successful businesswoman. I crave healthy foods. My body efficiently burns fat and loses weight. I crave variety in exercise routines. I am strong and capable. I will weigh under 200 lbs by Thanksgiving. My wood shed is full. I have money saved for vacation in February 2012. I earn $100,000 a year. I am financially stable. I handle strong emotion and conflict calmly. I am responsible. I believe in myself. My body tells me what it needs nutritionally and I listen carefully and respond to its needs.

I am grateful for ...

1. Waking up even though my alarm did not go off.
2. Receiving the brochures I ordered for my business.
3. Playing around on Squidoo.
4. The changing colors of fall.
5. The incredible encouragement I receive here.

Busy enough today. Busy enough everyday lately!! Even though I am tired this morning I am feeling well. I find myself being more aware of my thoughts and actively refocus them on a regular basis. Yesterday was a simply awesome day. I had 4 home visits with 4 high risk intense families and EVERY visit was wonderful and enjoyable. I found myself smiling more, recognizing the strengths instead of being weighed down with the risks, and feeling hopeful.

With each challenge comes opportunity. Perhaps the challenge of gaining pounds has provided me the opportunity to increase my self-acceptance, learn more about what my body "needs," and grow in ways that I would not have grown had I maintained my weight. I don't know, but I know there is purpose and opportunity in everything, even if I can't see it and it makes no sense at all in the moment. So ... I continue along this journey. Learning all the time. Practicing kindness and gratefulness. Enjoying the process.

Have a wonderful day!!

oh...the other thing i learned this summer was that for me and hubby milk and milk products help induce headaches...i get more miagrain headaches when i have more than 2 cups of milk/ice cream/cheese in a day...try cutting back on dairy and see if that works for the headaches...and a buy product of less dairy was that my sinus cleaned up alot...not near as bad symptoms as with the dairy diet...bought almond milk to try and see if it has the same symptoms...

Thanks Veggie. I actually don't do a lot of dairy. Never drink cow's milk, just started Almond milk, and while I am a cheese-aholic at heart I don't have much cheese anymore. I'm fairly certain a large number of my migraines are hormonally related and the rest due to barometric pressure shifts. I've had them since I was 9 years old. Maybe when I am 60 they will go away!! My mom rarely gets them anymore. I'll have to look into making my own nut butter..

The number on the scale is encouraging. I hope you are pleased? I have migraines too and mine are hormonal and like yours-weather related. They are worse now then ever-perimenopause, ewwww. I started taking Imitrex as soon as I get an aura and have had great success. I think Cindy nailed it-shake things up with food, exercise, EVERYTHING! Although I think you can skip the cold showers :)

Carol, headed back to catch up, but just wanted to let you know...I think you are an awesome, fabulous 50's something woman! As for the migraines, I have them also, more so at certain times of the year...spring and fall especially. I think they are tied to the changes in the pressure and the jet stream. I take an allergy sinus medication with excedrin migraine...it doesn't always get rid of it completely, but it sure cuts it! Works better than my script medication ever did. Hope you are having a decent day, even though it started out on the wrong foot...dogs, gotta love 'em! Congrats on the downward slide of the weight graph...am hoping to see the same myself soon. Hugs!

I've had migraines since I was 2. I was on phenobarbitol at 3. The hormon's only make them worse...lol...

Wow ... I am friends with a bunch of fellow migrainers!!! Who would have thunk it? Personally I live with Maxalt and "most" of the time it works very well ... will interrupt the pain portion and I just have to live through the aura bit. I worry a bit about what it might be doing to the rest of my body but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING has ever worked for me other than Maxalt (and I have tried a lot of things over the years like I'm sure all of you have as well). When I was little the dr. prescribed darvocet for my migraines. I used to get sicker than a dog with them and always ending up ejecting whatever medication I had tried to take but they also used to freak me out and I would get very tense and upset. They hurt like hell. I am pleased with the numbers but don't think I'll really be super excited until I dip back under 200. But fortunately I seem to be taking this in stride ... well at least today I am!! LOL!!! I have never had sunflower butter. Didn't even know such a thing existed!!! We are have BBQ boneless chicken breasts for dinner and I chopped up a bunch of cucumber, tomato, and red onion mixed with Newman's Light Balsamic Vinaigrette (thank goodness for spell check)!!

Mr. C = Constipation. I think a whole chicken breast is good unless it's fried and covered in gravy :)

Let me see if I can keep up w/ all these convos! lol I think Amryk came up w. the name Mr C lol... um nice dinner just remember BBQ has sugar -so watch the sauce! Do you work out everyday, resting a day is good for you so its not horrible missing this morn workout, even if it wasn't planned. I like your eliptical work out, toughen it up to 3 min interval. Just a thought. did someone say no pb? Peanuts are high in fat and I do not think its the healthy monouno fats that almonds have. Compare labels, I was going to go for lowfat but the sugar was super high, I grabbed natural insted. Natural Jif I think. I also try to eat less then half a serving. as for the migraines, my boss suffers from them often. I wonder if there is some site like this where you can discuss and learn and cure! I wonder if you can cure w/ diet. I have to wonder, food is so good and bad for us. Idk I just wish there was help. GREAT job on the scale btw!!

Gracias amiga!!! No BBQ sauce on the chicken. Hubby cooks it with honey and butter but most of that burns off. The chicken is super moist cooked that way. It was delish!! Thanks for the explanation to Mr C.
