Too many nuts and chocolate covered cranberries caused this weight gain. Exercise and a more balanced diet is what it will take to return me to 145, a high healthy weight, but most likely the natural one for someone with thick wrists and chunky musculature.

Cravings that result after eating nuts is caused by too much fat and too little protein. The blood sugar rise calls up insulin, and insulin causes further sensations of hunger. yes, a life time of emotional compensation eating and sedentary habits takes its toll but it also gives me good reason to know a lot about how I should eat, even when I don't. Of course, the chocolate cranberries, more likely 20 calories each than than the six calories they are often listed as, don't help.

rawl nuts, not baked or salted are good for you--but in moderation, like olive oil or avocados--super foods to be used in sensible proportion. I know these things. Unfortunately, I often don't pay attention to reality.

I got two interesting tips from a nutritionist: Eat starch like a potato an hour and half after you eat protein and green vegges. Eat a cup of beans and two cups of spinach for a system tune up.

I am going to try these as I get back on the strait and narrow, that is to say, the line we walk between self abuse of too harsh a calorie cut and too generous a self indulgence. Exercise is also the key to better strength, endurance, and general health. Do it!!!
