The same thing keeps happening over and over. I use food emotionally. When I feel down I eat something sweet to feel better. Then I binge on sweet things. I feel guilty and punish myself by depriving myself of food. I then binge again because I am so hungry and I feel like a failure because I wasn't able to starve myself properly. This happens when I'm stressed, sad, in pain, lonely, bored, vulnerable in anyway.
On the other hand when I've done well I want to reward myself with food. And the stupid cycle happens exactly the same way. I know what I am doing wrong but I keep falling into the trap. I need a new strategy. Any suggestions?

will some activity maybe help ? run/walk / cycling swimming ? something to keep busy but still enjoy ? try to reward yourself with clothing and not food. I eat alot when i stress too sweets and biscuits , like the other day I wanted to buy alot of sweets and then i went to the bath room just before i go to the shop and while i was washing my hands i looked in the mirror and told myself are u crazy what about the weeks hard work , and i made myself a cup of tea no sugar and afterwards decided if i really wanted sweets and the answer was NO after the tea I had 1 fruit and water , the eve I felt so proud because i didn't give in. try to keep busy when something happen and try not to go for food , I use to weigh 85kgs , I'm 57kgs now .

Geneen Roth's work really helped me recover from the awful cycle you describe so well. It took years and in the end I also needed a dieticians advice to know how much to eat, but the key is self love. Beyond Chocolate is also very good.

My personal fav is Nomu's skinny Hot choc....super low cal super low fat and super low carb.....works perfectly when im craving chocolates, only problem is thats its a tad bit expensive but personally well worth it, it really helped wean me off actual chocolate because when i get emo or in a zone and chocolate is my first go-to drug then i make a cup of basically calorie free chocolate :)
