Good morning everyone! Long time no journal, couple weeks at least. I was doing good for a week, then I did poorly, and now I'm back on track.

I finished up my clinical rounds and this week is finals week. I have two exams tonight and a final exam on Thursday. Then.... I'm off for summer break. Woohoo! Looking forward to using this time to refocus on me. I'm throwing a birthday party for my kids Saturday, and hopefully we will be able to squeeze in a camping trip while I'm off school. I figure I've done enough binging and cheating to last me a while, so I should be able to stay on track for those occasions. After finishing up the unit on psyche I've concluded that I most definitely fit the criteria of a binge eater, but I don't like the way that sounds. Maybe I'm just a bulimic who chronically forgets to purge. It's funny though, how easy it is for me to 'snap' out of it when I want to. Really no excuses, it all comes down to choices. Eating is a maladaptive defense mechanism i use to handle stress. I need to find some effective coping mechanisms that don't involve obesity, sugar, and future health complications because of it.

Last night i was getting my dinner, grilled pork, roasted sweet potato and corn on the cob. I got ready to weigh/measure every crumb when I realized that I spend so much time measuring these healthy nutrient dense foods, but when I order a pizza I go buck wild on the empty calories. Seems a lot backwards. So (because I had a lot of room for calories) I simply eyeballed my portions. I know that you can eat too many good foods as easily as you can eat too much junk, it was just kind of an 'ah ha' moment for me. Restricting vitamin rich foods and binging on trash.

So anywho, I'm still working on myself. Always learning more about the how's and the why's trying to get back to a good place when I can lose this excess weight and feel good about myself.

Good luck on finals!! You've been working hard on those classes, so it will be nice to get a break. Maybe having more time to focus on you will help you get back on track too before school starts back up. You can take that time you would be in class and focus on you instead. Have a great break!!

I swear...getting through the process of divorcing from my bad relationship with food is just as hard as the divorce from the ex. But I got through that, so I can make this work...
