15,801 steps yesterday, just working in my yard. My arms definitely feel the affects of the weed eater!!

Sleeping in some on this vacation, I wake up at the usual 4-4:30 time and try going back to sleep, and I have been for a couple hours. I've been feeling the affects of 6-7 hours of sleep lately. My body likes closer to 8.

Another pretty morning, I hope the winds don't pick up like they did yesterday as it's only supposed to be around 65. Will make a morning run for cedar mulch for my herbs, a few more bags of the brown for my lilies. I like the look of the dark brown but since it has added color I do not want to use it on edible plants. Not all my herbs are edible but most are.

Hoping the mud beds are drier this am or at least by this afternoon. I really need to get my tomatoes and peppers in the ground. More rain is predicted beginning overnight.

Reading a new to me cookbook, and finding it fascinating. "Flavor Rocco Dispirito" published in 2003 --a $2.00 find at 1/2 price books. I have not gotten to his recipes but this New York City chef and restaurant owner is going into depth about developing bold flavors in cooking. Very interesting, I will have to put some of his ideas to work.

Those require digging up in the fall, unless you live where the winters are warm, and keeping in a protected place over the winter. I adore those they are so cool, but don't have any, don't want to dig things up. LOL I need to get moving. Forgot to take my asthma drugs earlier -- they seem to work better if I'm lay for a few when I do them. Off for more mulch and compost. Will be a longer trip than I thought due to availability of what I want. I checked it online, I'm tired of driving from one to another to find stuff. A plus there is an Indian grocery up that way that I've wanted to check out.

Check on the winter tolerances or check with the Starbuck's manager, you may have to protect it when cold weather approaches is it's not in a spot close to your house.

I will definitely get a workout today! Loaded 10 bags of cypress mulch, 10 40# bags of compost, 5 bags of topsoil and 10 12" patio stones in my car. They said someone would be out to help in a minute, I saw no one so helped myself. Now to unload them and haul some of it to the back yard. Came home starving. Had stopped at the Mexican market and picked up a pound of their ground pork. Made a quick burger on the grill with chopped onion and portabella's and a little soy sauce for moisture. Topped that with a chopped greens mix from the garden, chopped tomato and jicama and a teaspoon of sesame/soy dressing and a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese on the side. Yummy lunch. More than I would normally eat but forgot breakfast and I really didn't eat much yesterday. Realized this was a jazzed version of the old diet plates of the 70"s. cottage cheese, lettuce and tomato, and what they used to call a chopped steak (hamburger with no bun). Nearly every restaurant had them.

IC, in the old diet plates? They used to sell like crazy, I was a waitress through college. Rocco Dispirito is new to me --yet, the back of my brain says I've heard of him before. I've now read the intro and 2 of his appetizer recipes, they sound yummy though the bbq shrimp one for me would be an entrée. May have to hit the Vietnamese market for some shrimp next week, they sometimes have ones that haven't been frozen for a good price.
