Jillzee00's Journal, 16 April 2015

Okay, I tried to be a cheapo tonight. LOL. I had a nice HUGE piece of fresh Salmon that I wanted to stuff with crab meat. Instead of buying the nice lump crab meat from the seafood section, I decided to buy the cheapie canned stuff in the tuna fish aisle. LOL. Hubby didn't say anything. He's the chef, but he didn't want to rock the boat. haha. Soooo...he tried to Doctor it up with lemon and spices (no filler), but it was too salty for me. It way yucky--LOL. He was so good about it because I scraped it all out and fed it to my five cats. The Salmon was way too big and the cats enjoyed over half of that, too. Not only did I get full, but they did, so we brought in the two dogs (big and little) to help finish it off. LOL. I also had steamed shrimp and ate a lot of them--ten--miss piggy wiggy here--LOL. Hubby peeled the rest of those for the salad he made for me for lunch tomorrow. Decided to have my "snack" wine while I relax in front of the computer. My calories are good (973), so I call it a night and I'm happy I'm finally back on my routine!

Thanks! Trying and going to try again tomorrow! I'm going to try to find more recipes/foods that I can have for dinner. I do great at work because I eat the same foods every day. Also, we don't have a cafeteria. If you don't bring it, you don't get it. Welllll....kind of! I do go out every day Duncan Donuts or our local convenience store---but only to buy coffee! :) Coffee is my new vice. I'm trying to give up my second glass of wine at night. I always have one with dinner and one to relax with later. I think it would be easier to give up the dinner glass.. It's like the one thing I hold onto--the thing I enjoy, relax with.

I'll take my wine calories for some food I'm not enjoying any night of the week!

Jillzee00--some of us need something to look forward to! Maybe I'm not evolved enough/enlightened enough yet to stop viewing food as a reward, 'cause I do. I'm not much of a wine drinker at night, 'cause it would just put me out like a light. Too many things for me to do in the evening (usually laundry, the bane of my existence). But I just *have* to have a night time snack. It's *my* one thing at night that I enjoy after I have 4 kids put to bed in the evening. My sit-down time/relaxing. The difference is that my snack choice isn't mindless stuffing of whatever goody I can find. I choose my snack very carefully, and I rarely having anything sweet, anymore. I actually frequently have a "snack" that might be an egg-white omelette with spinach and peppers or something like that. Or, some grape tomatoes and some lean deli meat and pickles. And...I save enough calories in the day to have this well-deserved snack. Snack? Wine? I say, yes!!!

There is no need to give up on your wine so long as you account for those calories. Like Dbdmom, I have a treat every night, but unlike Dbdmom, I need sweet to finish off my day. I make sure I have enough calories left for something, even if it is one block from a Cadbury bar (which it often is!). My dessert treat makes me happy, like your wine. Maybe you should try bringing coffee to work so you don't have to buy. You'll save some money that way.

Sam--me too! LOL. I'm not a big sweets eater. I'd rather relax sitting on my swing outside with a glass of wine (while throwing the ball to my dogs) or sitting in front of my computer. :)

dbdmom...I'm noticing that when I do "splurge" now, I'm a lot more selective. I know I am going to splurge with dinner tomorrow night. I have been craving lamb and I know my dinner tomorrow night--will be only lamb, but probably two lamb chops. LOL. I haven't looked to see how many calories that will be, but I'm sure it's a lot. Being the weekend, I know I will still have my wine.

HCB--All 5 cats, 2 Dogs and the bunny are extremely spoiled. LOL They are family members here--LOL. The funny thing is, one may not eat it--until another comes up. Then the competition sets in. LOL.

Beth--growing up and probably into my 30's, I always had to have a bowl of cereal before going to bed. That was before I began liking real "food." Now I like food, rarely eat cereal and rarely eat sweets. Crazy, but true. LOL. I find just sippin' my wine can chit chatting relaxes me after a long day.

Snack wine...i love it, LOL! My dogs also helped me with my dinner. They had half my baked sweet potato and steamed veggies. You are doing great with the healthy foods!

LOL--my pets are always waiting for us to share our food--and we all do. I feed them before we eat, but our food always looks better to them. I'm really trying to eat healthier, but think I could do better. I think next weekend, my "cheat" will be some scallops (not breaded). I think if you treat yourself one time over the weekend (within limits), it's okay. I tell myself that, anyway. LOL. I just wish I were losing faster!
