jethoel's Journal, 01 April 2015

I am having a very rough time today. Well, all week. I am forever re-starting diets and I'm just so tired of it. I re-started on Monday but something happened then yesterday something else happened and today peanut butter happened. Not terrible things but not induction positive things. It is just amazing to me how hard this has been. I guess even diets get harder with age.

On the positive side, though, even with the mess ups, I'm still lower on carbs than I normally would be so I feel better. Maybe not low enough for weight loss but I feel better physically. Mentally I'm pretty grumpy, though.

Also a slight positive - I plan to stay on induction for more than two weeks so I have time to figure out my problem and get it straightened out. Maybe in the end I'll have put together a good two weeks of 20 carbs and below.

I pulled out my old food journal yesterday. I plan to continue using it because I've taped some good atkins info into it. The first page I turned to was from 2010. If I had had the heart to flip through more pages I would probably have been able to figure out every re-start for the past 5 plus years. I had a moment where I asked why I was doing this again when I have consistently failed but then I reminded myself that this book does not show the other diets I started and failed at. So while I am definitely crazy, it isn't just because I keep trying and failing at the same diet. I try and fail many diets. I did, once, a long time ago, have good success on atkins. I am trying to recapture that success.

I hope you can progress with the Atkins induction into a lifestyle. It's ok if you don't lose a lot of weight while you adjust, just start keeping tabs on how you are feeling. Hopefully you will have some increase in energy. If you keep starting over again, then it has not become part of how you eat for life, not to just lose weight. Hang in there!
