Nearly done with my 2nd week of Atkins. Granted, it took me a couple days last week to really get going with it but I feel like I've done pretty well since. I'm still definitely not getting enough water in or veggies. I am finding it hard to have veggies and my entree - I get full and I'm trying not to overeat the way I like to do. I don't think that will effect my ability to get into and stay in fat burning mode but I do want to get those veggies in.

I got a gastric band (lapband) in 2008. Several months ago I decided to give it another go and got a couple of fills. The fills did not help me to lose weight or eat less but they did cause me to get "stuck" at nearly every meal (just like in 2008). That is what caused me to have all the fluid removed a few years ago so I've been pretty aggravated at myself for putting myself through this yet again. I cannot think of a single time during the last two weeks that I've gotten "stuck" during a meal, not even with hard boiled eggs. Now, I have learned to make sure I have some kind of sauce (mayo, ranch dressing, etc.) with most meat, especially chicken, to help it get down but I would still eventually get stuck. I am thinking it is probably because the so called "healthy" way to eat is to eat very lean and cut nearly all fat out. The induction phase of Atkins encourages eating more fat. Obviously it is too soon to really know and most likely I'm way off. Despite living with it for nearly 7 years, I still do not understand what causes the issues brought about by the band.

This morning was difficult. I had to take my dog to the vet for blood work and he couldn't have breakfast. So I didn't have breakfast cause I thought it would be cruel to eat when he couldn't. So it was lunchtime before I got to eat and I went through Hardee's drive thru for a low carb burger (burger on lettuce, no bun). No problem. Then I got to work and gave in to the peanut butter. Why, you ask, do I continue to keep the peanut butter when it is such a temptation? Because peanut butter is just so expensive these days. I just can't bring myself to throw out something so expensive that I love. Sabotage? Most likely. I'm very good at that.

Okay, I just tossed it. Whew.

I weighed Sunday morning. Down 2 from my last known weight. Which is very good. I have no idea what my real weight was (and I'm sure I don't want to know) but I'm happy to no longer be at that weight and to know what my weight now is.

It took me four tries to get the same weight twice when weighing. Very strange.

I have a low carb crock pot pizza cooking right now. My first time using the crockpot for this. I'm pretty excited. Being able to have pizza, my favorite food, while on a diet is just thrilling to me. I don't care about the crust at all so low carb is perfect for me.

Its also thrilling to me to be able to use my crockpot. I'm not a cook. I don't really care for it, I'm not particularly good at it, and its only me so its often wasteful.

I haven't done so well on any of my goals today. I have a womans club meeting tonight so its probably not going to get much better. There shouldn't be food but I take minutes so probably won't get much water in.

1. Drink more water
2. Eat my own food (less restaurants)
3. REMEMBER why I'm doing this

I broke down and bought a new scale today. My old scale didn't go high enough and would error (possibly a silent scream?) when I got on it. So I got one that goes up to 350 lbs. At first it just showed LO when I got on it and I was so worried it was erroring but it just didn't like my battery. I haven't weighed since Curves closed the end of October. I'm not sure but I think the weight I'm using on here is from my last doctor appointment. So tomorrow morning I will weigh. It won't be exciting cause I won't know if I lost anything since I couldn't weigh when I started but at least I'll have an accurate weight. I am just hopeful it won't be higher than my last weight.

Had fajitas for dinner last night then again for lunch today. Then I went to the grocery (with a few million of my neighbors) and got pork rinds with bbq flavor. I love bbq flavor! I checked the nutrition label and saw 0 for carbs and sugar and was very excited. I bought two bags. I munched away watching the first final four game and when I was putting the bag away I saw SUGAR in the ingredients. I'm disappointed cause I know better than to just check the nutrition label and now my "free" pork rinds are not really free but I can't count them accurately cause they come up as 0 carbs.

I nearly messed up this morning. I was contemplating what I had to do today and thought I would just grab something to eat at a drive thru rather than eat at home. You can't really get anything at a drive thru that is low carb that can be safely eaten in a car. But I was thinking I'd be okay. Was thinking I'd go to Arby's and get some mozzarella sticks. They are no kind of low carb but those were my crazy thoughts. Instead, I ate brunch at home - deviled eggs and sausage with my ACV drink. I forgot about that til just a few minutes ago - very proud of myself. Was able to remember WHY I need to stick with this and how fragile my current motivation is.

I had fajitas again for lunch. I think I will switch from fajitas to taco or fajita salads. Fajitas are just so expensive. Same restaurant, same meal two days in a row come up to close to $40. Way too much for two meals. My budget just can't handle that.

So things I need to work on:

1. Drink more water
2. Eat my own food (less restaurants)
3. REMEMBER why I'm doing this
