Butterfly30's Journal, 06 July 2009

I am doing poorly on my diet. Even more, I feel extremely discouraged today. I am not loosing and my progress has slowed down. I have to crunch down and not allow myself to be persuaded to eat the things that are not with in my cal. intake for the day! To add, I need to hear a diabetic weight loss success story! I am insulin dependant. Is there anyone out there who is diabetic insulin dependant and loosing weight with diet and exercise? If so, can someone aid me with my diet? I am just so tired and I feel like I am carrying a large burden. I just feel so overwhelmed and downcast! I don't know what to do?

I come from a line of large women and the women in my family have various health issues. I want to be healthy !!!

Despite my lack of motivation and discouragement today, I hope that you all have a wonderful Monday!

Blessings,

The Butterfly~

Dear, sweet Butterfly! I am sorry you are feeling discouraged. You know, my father had to lose 30 pounds when he discovered he is diabetic. The way he did it was by following principals of The Zone Diet. My dad is an engineer so he attacked his weight loss with spread sheets, LOL, evaluating his glucose response to all foods. You don't need to do that. Three simple rules, he told me: (1) Always have a small amount of protein with every meal (approximately the size of your palm or one small chicken breast) and at every snack (one in the late afternoon, one in the late evening). (2) eat "Favorable" carbohydrates that are twice the size of your protein portion (most vegetables and lentils, beans, whole grains, and most fruits). (3) Avoid as much as possible "unfavorable" carbs (pasta, papaya, mango, banana, dry breakfast cereal, bread, bagel, tortilla, carrots, and all fruit juices). He lost the weight quickly and he hasn't gained it back. My dad is insulin dependent like you. This illustration shows it pretty well: http://www.zone-diet-guide.com/images/zone-diet-portions.jpg I'll send you some links my dad likes. I'll be praying for you. You have such an optimistic outlook on life, and it just isn't right for you to feel discouraged. We'll all help you get yourself back. :-)

I am so sorry you are feeling this way. I know we say this all the time, but chin up honey-we don't give up-no matter how hard things are. There has to be someone on here with a solution and if not, we shall look elsewhere.

So sorry to hear of your discouragement. Sometimes it is hard when it seems like our bodies are working against us and not with us. Trials will come, but can only make us stronger. Keep moving forward. Always take one day at a time. The solution is coming - just don't give up. God Bless!

Hang in there, Girl. You CAN do this! Sorry I can't help you with diabetes, but I'm sure there's lots of helpful information online that you can check out. Also, check with your doctor for additional help.

I hear of your awesome workouts and I feel such a sense of pride for your accomplishments...you have been fighting your fears and plodding on (with your scary, xena-like gym buddy!), so I want to say, KUDOS to all that you're doing, and all that you've done so far!!! You are doing AWESOME!!! Don't psych yourself to fail, or jinx yourself (Wish I can lecture myself this same thing!)..but just KEEP ON GOING...you WILL SEE RESULTS!!!! You are getting stronger and healthier as we speak! Just keep a tight vigil on your diet and make sure that the food doesn't undo the good you're doing on the workouts! My Best wishes!
