hey mary, i just started on here like 5 days ago and it really has helped me a LOT. keeping track of the things i'm so used to munching on with no worry has really opened my eyes to the amount of empty calories i was consuming... so THIS website is def. my first suggestion, and you've already taken that one so kudos to you!! Second step was I figured out my weight watchers points (i follow weight watchers, I really think it's a great and very flexible diet plan, and still leaves you feeling satisfied cause you get to eat WHAT you want, just helps you learn what and how much to eat, instead of going overboard)...you can figure out your points online on all different websites; just search in google! You don't have to follow weight watchers, but I really do swear by it. If you aren't gonna try for weight watchers at least do this- I researched everything about fats/carbs/protein that I could, and NOW knowing and understanding what each thing is, helps me to feel more confident about knowledgeable dieting.. I think this is important, because you need X-amount of fats/carbs, etc. to maintain a healthy body/figure. There is a daily requirement for calorie intake, fats, carbs, protein. SO, I googled all of them and figured out what each of MY daily requirements would be according to the weight I am currently at, and I follow that (not to a T, but as closely as possible). With weight watchers it's good, because they allow you 35 extra points over a week, so if you go overboard one day, it's easy to get back on track the next day... I'm really swearing by WW and this website, it's helped boost my self esteem and confidence about dieting all over again... and believe me, it's hard for me to shed those pounds too... it is for everyone. ESPECIALLY AFTER THE FIRST WEEK!!! PS- NO FAST FOOD. ZERO, NONE. I swear, after seeing the fat calories in a Mcdonald's apple pie, i wanted to die (because i ate two about an hour before I started this website, hehe)! No fast food sounds like a tough thing because its so good (I'm 21, so i'm at that age!), but when I realized that a medium Mcdonalds fry has almost enough fat that I'm required to intake in 1 day, I don't even want to look at the crap anymore.
