livia89's Journal, 01 February 2015

Boy, was that a cheat day yesterday. I got Chinese with my boyfriend, don't know if I got all of the things right on the calorie counter. But it was very good and quite satisfying. I bought some weights and an exercise mat, and will start using them tonight :D Excited about it!

I will try very hard to eat very light today, to wash out the food of yesterday. Come to think about it, I see each day of last week I ate something wrong, be it a veggie pizza, french fries, or white rice. I don't think I want to eliminate "crazy" carbs out of my diet, because I don't want my body to get used without them and put back weight on after losing it, but I guess I should try and reduce them. Also, after going home from work, I'll pass by the local market and get some organic veggies and fruit, yay!

You can eat simple carbs like pizza, dinner rolls etc like twice a week and later when you reach your goal weight you can continue eating like that or you would not be able to maintain your weight since you desire to be very tiny. Not much calories allowed when wanting to stay skinny.

Try substituting whole grain options, complex carbs instead of simple ones. I eat a lot of rice brown jasmine or red. Instead of French fries try some crispy oven baked versions tossed in a bit of olive oil and seasoning, end try with sweet potato or taro. Make homemade pizza on whole grain crust or cauliflower crust, yummy. Try quinoa or other whole grains cooked instead of white rice. Lots of healthier options to stripped white grains that have few nutrients. I cooked some whole roasted barley yesterday to have handy with meals this week.

I agree with wholefoodnut... stay away from white flour as much as you possibly can... not just to loose weight but to eat healthier...

Thank you all for your advice and ideas. @snezica, it's true I want to reach a small number of kilos, but I will be far from being tiny, it's just a good number for my height (156 cm). I am small so I should be reaching to weigh little also. And as all of you ladies pointed out, I should try to replace simple carbs with more complex/brown versions. I succeed in doing so while at home, eating out on the other haaaaaand, not so much. So basically I guess I should refrain as much as possible from fast-food and be better focused on my goals.

In that case 52 kg is a good number for you, still you won't be able to eat a lot of cals maintaining it. Taller girls, like my friend who is 176cm have it much easier. I am 170 cm so somewhere in the middle, I have to watch out for too many simple carbs too.

@snezica, yes, the trouble of being a short person, I might say :D But I don't see that as my main struggle, because in the end, I feel full with less calories compared with taller people. My main struggle remains the portions and quality of food when I eat from restaurants and fast-foods, as they are over my allowed intake to begin with. I will try and keep that in check this week, resuming to only food I made myself. Let's see how it goes :)

Eating out at restaurants is so hard for me. The food is so tasty, but even the healthy options seem to slow down my progress. Can you cut down on the number of times that you eat out?

@sngglebnny Exactly my point. This is what I'll try to do, whether is lunch at work or dinner when reaching home. Cook and prep everything ;)
